Quick question on era-specific units. If I produce, say Swabian Swordsmen in Early, when I go to high I know I won't be able to produce them any more, but will the ones I've already built still be around, or do they disappear?

They will still be around as long as you don't get them killed.
My tip is this: built as much of them as you can before you're unable to produce them.
In alternative use GnomeEditor, open CrusadersUnitProd and allow SS to be buildable in High and Late...

Thanks, that's what I thought.

I did this until I had played as every faction in the game. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I'm only now getting close to finishing my first campaign. Turns take forever, especially with 2 or 3 large battles nearly every turn.
Can you retrain units after they can no longer be built? (Example: Could I take a unit of 22 Knights Templar and retrain it back to 40 men, even if it's after 1314?) I have yet to find this out.

I sometimes even make it to the high period http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
Yet my first campaign I've finished in all my time playing (for more then a year MTW and before that STW - have no idea how long) was yesterday or the day before that.
I actually lost, my Doge had no heirs and died a lonely death. It was 1170+.

Nope.

Since you can't EVER train Templars (unless you MOD), no again, before and after...
