Well, this outdated Game has many wonderful Gameplay aspects. It is set in the Napoleonic Wars, the Age of Imperialism and the first World War.
I would like it if there was a remake of that Game useing the Battle-system of Total War...
Who would like it too?
I voted maybe, because I would prefer only a napoleonic total war. Later is all too complex. Maybe we can go back and introduce the Seven years war and the War for the Succesion of Spain (I'm not sure if the last one would be a good pick).

BRand new on the same topic is Victoria. Even more complex than the already difficult Imperialism. Lacks tactical battles, but overall good - if steep learning curves don't make you flee. I just conquered the Arabic peninsula with Brazil...

Oman is easy pray. 2 divs for the mainland, 2 for the colonies, & here you go. I did lose 4,000 men invading Socotra, though. I tried France, but it's hell to manage(big), & I was fool enough to believe 30 divisions would be enough to hold Prussia.....

sure, I could do some kind of game like this (meaning I would like a game like this). It would be fun if the time scale was changed, where time goes by in DAYS, and there aren't provinces, there are counties http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
days?? i dont think days but ya sure it would be a cool timeline to play

Well, the Original Game is rather Complex and can be imagined as kind of Mixture between "Total War"-Games and Sid Meier's "Civ" 's.
You have three Periods: Napoleonic, Imperialism and WW1. These don't work like in Age of Empires.
You have a Menue in which you can buy new Technologies causing a certain Effect, for example if you buy "Gattling-Guns" all your Infantry Units are upgraded to their WW1-Peroids equivalent.
Tradeable Goods are Collected in your Provinces if you guarantee the Transportation to your Capitalcity. This is made by Train or by Seaports (unless there are no Trucks in this Era).
You can Order which Goods have to be Produced in your Industry by useing your Rawmatirial.
------------------
Putting into usage in the TW-Engine from RTW:
Factories appear as Buildings->
- Foodfactory (adds the Tradable Good "Food" in the Province)
- Clothesfactory (same with Clothes)
- Locomotiveworks (same with Locomotives, additionally enables the Construction of Railway-Guns)
- Steelfactory (adds Steel, only buildable in Provinces with Iron)
- Warfactory http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
And awesome...
The Technological Development is a real Problem, through it hasn't appeared in TW-Games until now. Well, I think it was best displayed if you can make a right-click on a Factory and buy an upgrade for it...
Example: Right-click on my Steelfactory, the Window appears. 1000 Pounds for "Armor Plates", clicked. Now the Steelfactory is upgraded to a new Building still called Steelfactory but beeing reffered as the prefference for Armored Ships in the Building_Prod (Steelfact7, instead of the Steelfact6 before).
The Building of Castles is then replaced by the Rise of your Industry: The Upgrades of the Factories enable "new Technologies" by allowing you to build Units and Buildings based on that "Technology" you bought.
If we were to have a "Imperialism: Total War", we would need an diplomacy system that is a lot better than the current TW-diplomacy.
The Total War system as we know it wouldn’t make sense beyond 1850 or so. Firepower became all important; massive melees were rare and mounted cavalry charges were an anachronism. Not to mention how much entrenching would have to be included and the how far artillery could be able to reach.
The rigid formations possible in TW would lend themselves nicely to linear warfare (more so in fact than they have thus far to be honest, Rome excluded). The era of the smoothbore musket would work but I suspect the 17th and 18th centuries would involve too much shooting for many fans. Most people like Total War for its’ big prolonged melees.
Anyway, I don’t see how WWI could make sense as a tactical game. Massive amounts of artillery. Mounted cavalry worthless in combat. Earthworks everywhere. Little maneuvering. Just over the top into machinegun and artillery fire so that attrition determines the winner. Sounds like a game who’s time will never come.
