When starting a New Campaign..

I am just wondering what most of you guys prefer in a single player:

Early
(players who like to play the whole nine yards ; likes Civ Games)

High
(players who prefer to have a headstart ; likes Sim City http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

Late
(players who want the best to fight the best the game has to offer ; likes Age of Empires Games)

Give your own defenition why you like a specific era and what game type describes you.

Early and the late troops do not make the best game or the best competition...

Always early for me. I like to have all the time I need to do what I want to do. Races against time get on my nerves.

I tend to prefer High. I like the GA games and when I start an early game, I become forced to expand with constrant conflict after conflict and before I know it, its just another game of me controlling half of europe against all the remaining factions
High gives a good balance in my opinion. You have enough time to conquer everything, and its easier to keep to the GA strategy

I tried my first late game recently. Played only early games before. I enjoyed it. Having a definite ending was nice.

EARLY - for the same reasons that Cazbol gave.It's not much fun having to play against a clock besides it's enough having to worry about running out of Florins without having to worry about running out of time to spend them.I also like creating my kingdom according to my rules and I like to take my time in making it.. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Always early. I like to have complete control on my empires infrastructure and my build up, but I also hate being on my toes and watching how soon will the game end. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

The bad side about that is that I mostly have conquered most of the map when the really tuned units come to be built *sigh* http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

When I first played I played Early because I want all of the game But later I play more High because I often quit without going to Late. It is bored soon once you get big

Also playing High give you chance to the challenge to fight the Golden Horde. You have only some dozen years to prepare when they come huge
