View Full Version : A thank you to Frogbeastegg......
I'm sure people have already said this numerous times, but I still want to express my gratitude for everything you've done to contribute to the community here. You always give out good advice to the newbies (and yes, I still have to count myself as one to at least some extent); and even more amazing, you never even seem to lose patience with us. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif And aside from all that, you have in addition spent only goodness knows how many hours putting together the Beginners Guide, and now the Total War unit guide as well. I admit that even after having played Medieval for a year, there were a lot of things in the Beginners Guide that helped me out with my campaigns. The effort you have put forth, and continue to put forth, is simply amazing
And so, FBE, I dip my hat to you (or rather I would, if I wore such things). I extend to you much applause and huzzahs

Yeah, well said, Froggy's ace. However, I just can't square up her online persona with the troubled soul she recently revealed on a Tavern thread. She deserves a round of applause and a big hug for being a talented, genuine and resilient human being. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
I'm especially impressed with the guide. Some advice there gave me something to think about too, and I've been playing the game regularly since it came out.

Perhaps in the end 'froggy' is just a ghost of the me that died more than half a lifetime ago - 'froggy' is me but I am not exactly 'froggy'. 'Froggy' is the me that was happy to help people, that wanted to do something well without being paranoid about getting everything perfectly right to avoid being mocked for each tiny mistake. 'Froggy' is the one who can talk without being interrupted and misunderstood at every turn. 'Froggy' is the one who is still daft enough to believe the load of tripe that is my signature....but I still believe it too, even though I know it is a load of rubbish that will get me attacked. I am not a knight and I never can be but in the end I still follow it. When people are nice to me, when I can finally relax my guard froggy is what I become, the rest of the time I am someone else because froggy is too vulnerable for her own good. It is not a split personality, more of a relaxed one. 2 people in real life get to see this side of me, another 3 people get to see a more wary and icy froggy. Everyone else gets the real me in all the icy, self controled, untrusting, calm 'glory'.
Meh, enough gloominess Thank you all http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

We are all human Froggy, and none can ultimately live up to the highest ideals. However, the nobility lies in the attempt to do so. Don Quixote is at once pathetic and heroic, and there is a bit of him in all of us. I recommend Cervantes' great work if you have not already read it. Dear Lady frogbeastegg,
I apologize for my mistake; though I am not a chauvinist, the experience has unfortunately taught me that most of our female companions share no affinity whatsoever for Total war serial.
I stand corrected.
Greetings, fair Princess
Greetings Lady frogbeastegg
Your guides not only show our newer warlords the path to glory, but they provide much needed assistance to those of us who have been fighting these wars so long, we havn't stoped to consider newer units of tactics.
Your works, the unit guide and the beginner's guide, show all warriors, be they old or young, skillful or have just picked up the sword, that there is more to victory then a numbers game. Also let us not forget your stories, those of Pride and "sky blue uniforms" (haha i still remember that tale of the mercian peseant).
Thank you once more froggy, let the people sing songs for ages to come of your guidance.

Hurrah for Froggy And glad to see that Monk remembers to congratulate her on her fan fiction as well. For those who aren't aware, Froggy is virtually singlehandedly responsible for generating a TotalWar fanfiction forum. If you've never bothered with the Mead Hall, go there. Now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Not to mention her guiding me through KOTOR (not that you guys care about that, but she was a big help to me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ).

Froggy, you remind me of my youngest sister. A perfectionist that can't accept anything less than total, absolute perfection all the time. Unfortunately we live in an imperfect world, striving for perfection is admirable, but accepting that some things are out of one's control despite one's best efforts makes for a happier, healthier life. Don't be so hard on yourself. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif

More? I don't know what to say at all - froggy is lost for words Thank you http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
As for me being virtually responsible for the Mead Hall, well rubish Other people wrote stories before I got here and other people write them still. I am one of the most infrequent contributors to the Hall - just one half finished series and a KOTOR themed comedy in nearly half a year. I don't think pinning and closing topics counts as a literary effort It wasn't even my idea to set up a special forum for stories. I got the assistent moderator job in the polls and there was a bit of a rush of people nominating me but that is because you are all crazy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
HOF? I hadn't even thought about that. (froggy searches her 'sports stuff and famous people' memory. Finds that Mount Suribachi is likely saying she will pick up many awards easily. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif ) I suppose in light of the sudden outburst of froggy worshipping I might pick up an award if there is a guide category or something. Oh heck, I've already run out nice of things to say in this kind of situation

Hi Lady FBE
Must just add my two cents here (and be the first to do so without a smiley, he he). Your guides have been invaluable to me, greatly assisting my usual fumbling efforts to rule the world. You embody the true spirit of the org community: a desire to help, inspire and entertain with no hidden agendas or alterior motives. A true star. (Now, where's that 'Org personality of the year' award vote gone? )

I'm used to Utopias forums... where the intelligent posters has left long since, leaving a flamewar behind.
I always get startled when I coem back to these boards, cause of the tone in it. The whole atmosphere here is great, probably/perhaps because this game doesnt interest the sharpshooting 14YO...
anyway, FBE, great work. I've been very helped by you'r posts and threads.

Now that is mean - you should either take prisoners and ransom them or slaughter everyone mercilessly on the battlefield. Some people are just so cruel
Quote[/b] ]I thought war was only for men
You'd be suprised, there are quite a few (relatively speaking, not a 50/50 split or anything) women on this site. Generally speaking most women aren't interested in games but there is a growing number who are. I have been playing games for years now, started out with Prince of Persia on the PC back in the early 90's. I get the same kind of suprise when I say that I am a historian with a strong emphais on militery history, ask me what a princess would wear in the middle ages (the kind of thing I am supposed to be interested in for some reason) and the best I can do is "A dress and some kind of elaborate hairstyle" ask about a knight and the result is very different "what period? Rich knight or poor? Up to date equipment or older stuff? Well your average knight in 1066 was wearing a chainmail hauberk...." and so on for hours
Anywho belated thanks to everyone for all the complements (again), so busy these days.
