A while back I saw a post about inheritance but couldn´t find it now so I post this instead.
The last 3 games as the English I have actually got the Danish kingdom after the king dies some 100 tears into the game. (When I played the Danes, last night, I turned up without heirs in just about that time and it was game over for me.)
So have u guys inherited a kingdom sometime?

I've been asking the hands of noble ladies all over Europe whenever possible in hopes of such inheritance. Despite that policy I have never got anything http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif BTW, I am playing Danes now. Seems that I have to manage to conquer the world in 100 years or I am in trouble. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It has happened to me exactly twice (in more games than I care to count). Once I got Milan, Genoa and Venice from the Italians - nice deal. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/santa.gif

I've seen the computer inherit quite a few times.

It happened to me while playing the English in Early. The Aragonese had conquered Valencia and had Aragon. In 1110 their king died without an heir. Since one of my princes had married an Aragonese Princess in the beggining of the game, I inherited all Aragonese lands. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Once again i feel like there must me a plot against me

I've had princesses married all over europe, and factions prefered to disappear instead of letting me inherit their land's http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

And I'm not that big of Tyrant http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hi ya´ll
I´m back with a new inheritence

This time I was playing the Danes and had built a nice little trade empire; Fin, Liv, Lit, Pru, Pom, Sax, Fri. I had conquered Ire and then BAAM in 1149 I inherited the rest of England, with Scotland pretty well developed with nice armystacks.

Seeing your posts, after my initial one, and realizing that this event doesn´t happen often I have come to the conclusion that I can make a fortune from this. Do you want to hire my version of the game for lests say a nice chunk of florins? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I have never had it. However, how do you get the other factions princesses to marry your princes.

I believe it is a medieval thing. Only males can inherit. Will not work with princesses.

You both have it backwards. Unless I am mistaken, the way to establish a claim to another factions kingdom is to marry your princesses to their princes.

When they run out of heirs or have a civil war then there is a chance for your daughter to inherit the other faction's lands.

To marry your princess off, drop her on a king or emissary. To get another faction's princess to marry one of your sons (you do this to form an alliance and to improve your genetics) drop an emissary on another faction's princess.

I don't need any inheritances - sooner or later my armies invade anyways http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

no im pretty sure you need their princesses to marry your princes. That way, since only males can rule, your prince can marry his way in.

it doesn't work the other way round. If it was through your princess, I believe, only she would have claim, and, well, shes a she. That was a big no in western europe pre Elizabeth the First I believe.

1. I think/ suspect/ almost know that I have to be alone to marry into that faction.
2. I know it works both ways - males or females.
3. On atleast one occasion I had an emissary ask the foreign princess for her hand in marrige.

The first three times inheriting Denmark only as the English but the last time I actually inherited a whole kingdom with infrastructure, upgrades, armies etc. So I am relly lucky.

Once I played France and was getting ready to take Aragon when suddely she turns Spanish - no war, no armies - just went Spanish so this must have been an AI inheritance.
I do think that this event happens often but maybee ya´ll doesn´t look through the whole map on EVERY turn to spot rebelling provinces/ changes etc like little nurdish me, he he Maybee I can´t make a fortune on renting out my game after all http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif

Neither do I but I think it´s a nice event and it can really change your tactics.
Like when I inherited England I was really aiming on conquering the russian steppes, since I´m a Swedish viking, but getting England I decided to hear the cry of my Danish father and turn my eyes on wealthy France instead Onwards, to Paris my brave berserkers

...on the other three occasions I had not married my princess to them but accepted to marry theirs.

I will give that a try ichi.

I did use my princesses to increase the loyalty of my leaders.
