http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif hi there people i have been having trouble oraganising my finances and i have to put in a cheat so i have enough money to carry on one problem for this is that i do not understand trading even though i have read through the manual explaining it so many times. What i find is that when i want to trade none of the nearby computer controlled areas have ports so i cant trade(Are there places which have ports to start with?) And sometimes i accidently destroy my ships by putting them into deep ocean:joker: . But when i want to move an army by sea even though i have a link of ships going all the way to the place i want to go i can't move far enough http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/handball.gif
Trade - yes, you can only export to non-hostile factions with ports. I find the most profitable sea areas for trade are in the middle east. The sea between Italy and Greece tends to have quite a few ports too, as might the black sea.
When you're trying to move armies, are you at war with anyone? A single enemy boat in any ocean area makes it a hostile ocean, and your trade and armies won't be able to use it.
If you press 'v' while on the campaign map, it will highlight the oceans in appropriate colors. Green are sea which you have a boat in and can pass through. Red areas have enemy boats, and you cannot pass through them with trade or armies until you remove the offending boat. Yellow are neutral - you don't have a boat there, but someone else who isn't hostile to you does. And if there are no boats, it stays blue.
You need a path of all green, linking the province you want to trade to the other factions port - or for armies, you need a path of all green from the place you're at to where you want to go, and a port in the province you're moving from.
Also note, that if someone has a boat in the sea by their province, you can't invade the province by boat. You need to remove any defending fleets before you can do that.
