View Full Version : Lets hear it for Frogbeastegg
As a new member hear I am not allowed to post a reply to Frogbeastegg's latest and greatest contribution to our community. But I can't let a lobor of love such as Frogbeastegg has created go un praised.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, all of you that are newby-buck privates (or should I say peasants) here join me in praising the great work that Frogbeastegg has done with The Complete TW Unit guide. The thread can be found at
Linky (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=13453)
Everyone raise your mugs and toast to Frogbeastegg
I am continually amazed at the level of historical/tactical/strategic/operational knowledge displayed on this board.
What is TRULY amazing to me however is the general level of courtesy and respect that everyone shows here.
It is inevitable that when you get a bunch of smart folks together they won't always agree. On this board you are much more likely to get a reasoned exchange of ideas and opinions rather than flamming and name calling. Truly refreshing http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif
BTW, any chance of a printer freindly version of that sucka?
Another thread in praise of Frogbeastegg? She must be running out of kind things to say http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif .
Other then that, I fully agree. It shows her how well respected she is on the Org. Her doings on the org are excellent. Do your duty and do it right, that is the basis of all moral behavoir.
All hail Frogbeastegg,
The teacher, the guider, the Queen of the Org
She deserves praise in all halls of the .Org.

http://www.computerpannen.com/cwm/otn/love/newblblush.gif Yes, I'm running out of things to say I'm not used to all this praise. It would help if I could find a better blushing smiley, this one is too pink
A printable version of the guide will appear soon, when all the corrections and additions are taken care of. Look for it in the new year, before the end of January. Your printer won't thank you though - it is now over 80 pages without the pictures Best stockpile some paper.

It is from a game called Thief: The Dark Project (fantastic game now available on budget along with its sequal, everyone should play it). There are these little frog like critters called frog beasts. They are amoungst the best enemies I have seen in a game as they are tiny, cute, funny and damn deadly When a frog beast is killed or attacks you it explodes destroying anything within a very large radius. They certainly reinforce the point that your character is supposed to sneak not fight as you often die one one frog beast blast. They make me laugh something rotten - you are stood in the shadows, watching a guards patrol and you hear this 'ribbit, ribbit' noise at your feet. In horror you look down and see a frog and just have enough time to say oh crap before you explode. Anyway in Thief 2 you find these eggs that you can throw like hand grenades, when the egg lands a frog beast hatches out. If you find some frog beasts stood in a row you can use a fire arrow to set of a chain reaction of exploding amphibians. You can also blow them up when they are near other enemies to kill many birds with one arrow.
As for how I got the name, well I was stuck for a name and I flicked through my copy of the thief guide hoping for inspiration. It opened straight to the page with frog beast eggs and I thought it sounded catchy when run together - frogbeastegg. It has proven a good choice as it is distinctive and people are always coming up with new ways to shorten it - frog, froggy, Lady Frog, miss frog, frogs legs, froggit, eggy, beasty and so on. Now I am so used to the name I have to use it everywhere on line, so if you see a frogbeastegg on another forum or in MTW multiplayer (very very rare sight ) chances are good that it is me.
It also gives the excuse to use some frog themed smiles I found from time to time http://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/chapel/frogs/grin34.gif
