Yes, I sometimes still play Shogun.

As I said in other ocasions, I still think it to be superior to MTW in the general feel of the game... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Yes of course Shogun brought a cultural and scenic atmosphere not only in battlfields, but in the throne room, and in its music off the field and on the board. Unfortunatly thats something MTW never had http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

I still think CA rushed Medieval. Contrary to Shogun, I always had the feeling that it was lacking something. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Of course, from a gameplayer's point of view, MTW is a much more complex and also more rewarding game, but... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

One wonders if Activision isn't more demanding than EA deadline-wise... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Too hooked on MTW's Strat Map. If CA would have been so kind as to add the MTW/Vikings Strat Map to Shogun, then I probably play it exclusively; but then I'd have to beg or pay Wes to MedMod Shogun.

I really missed the movies, throne room etc. in MTW. I really liked the Assassination movies in Shogun, and really wished they had been in MTW. It really brings the world of the game to life. Still, MTW is great.

I will probably start a Shogun game someday again. I own the Warlord Edition, but haven't played it yet. First I'll have some fun with MTW.

Have you any MOD installed?

If not, have you tried reinstalling it?

Still play a campaign from time to time. The setting and the general atmosphere (to which the event movies add a lot) are still unique and cannot be replaced by any other game.

Also, sometimes I just prefer the more limited (and more straight forward) variety of units to M:TW

Doesn't EA have a reputation for not caring much about the quality of its games? On topic, I never pay Shogun, mainly because I don't have it(well, sort of). I take it that it would be worth aquiring a copy?

Edit:Does the Shogun mod 4 MTW have all the trappings of the original (Throne room, cutscenes, etc)?

Yes, unfortunatelly they have. Because the only thing they care for is $$$$$$$... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pissed.gif

But I was beeing sarcastic. Although, what I've said about Activision rushing the game, is still valid... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Unfortunatly no, the MTW-game engine just does not include those things. To add them would require hard-coding and, I think, a lot of work. Master Barocca has already made clear that this is beyond his capacity and, frankly, we ought to be glad that he did invest so much time and so much effort into it already.

Still, such a shame...

Somehow I moved forward… I never thought that I could go over the loss of my samurais, but eventually every time I would return to S:TW I would heavily miss all the new possibilities the M:TW had… And, I have to be honest, I never thought I would like the medieval setting as much as I did eventually liked it, and now I'm all into my knights, crusades and citadels…

I do play Shogun still, but I do spend more time on Medieval.

Lately I have been unable to play Shogun as I had to reformat my PC and a friend of mine still has my Shogun CD

Oh well, I guess I'll get back on MTW yet again... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hey,
I still do play Shogun, but i've never managed to get MP working on the warlord edition. I usually play when I really get confused/frustrated with MTW complexity and need something fun yet simpler to play. (I'm not saying Shougun is a simple game actually is complex compared to C&C series). Although, when I lose a lot cos I sometimes use some strange tactics the seem to work better in MTW (like using Shougn's Musketeers)

Then it's probably a graphic card related issue.
Try updating your drivers.
