You're completelly right, they're hilarious

I'm a big fan o Monty Python's for quite a few years now... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I've seen The Quest For The Holy Grail (only once unfortunatelly http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif ), The Life of Brian (3 times) and the The Meaning of Life (several).

As for the series, since I'm not from the UK, I've been only able to see about 10-12 episodes.

Those guys are trully genial in their humor... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

My favorite movie of all times is

Blade Runner,

but there are many more aside of that, because I always had enormous interest in movies and music. Monty Python is inevitable piece in the hall of the greatest achivements, I have Life of Brian, but I haven't seen The Quest in a long time... I remember the scene when one knight cuts the arm of another one.

Err, I guess this is it, right?
No, why?
I cut you real bad.
Why, no, it's just a scratch

Good choice, LordAymar, it's one of my favorites too. I love anime very much, and have even made a music video with footage from GitS with Sting soundtrack (known as AMV's).

As for the original script, have you noticed that no film based on his writtings, not even Blade Runner, can claim to be faithfull to Philip K. Dick's work?
Let alone Screamers, Minority Report or sh*t like Total Recall ( from I can remember It For The Wholesale), ...

Greatest book? yes i agree, one of them. Greatest film? no i don't.

So many wrongs in it it's not even funny. Sure the pelennor looked damn nice but they left out the scourging of the shire, and the final battle in front of the black gate was...well lacking. I won't say anymore for the sake of spoilers, I will just say this, it could have been better. It did not live up to my expectations at all.

Director's Cut, of course. The happy ending from the other editions (there were four other versions totally) was the ultimate http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/handball.gif -up, caused by the fear of the investors which demanded from Ridley to put a happy ending in it. BTW, the scenes where Deckard and Rachel are flying across the mountains are actually taken from the unsed footage made for Shining

Quote[/b] ]As for the original script, have you noticed that no film based on his writtings, not even Blade Runner, can claim to be faithfull to Philip K. Dick's work?

Actually, Phillip K. Dick's book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep was ultimately different from what Blade Runner turned out, which I'm glad it is. The book has a completely different moral and the feeling than does the movie.

Quote[/b] ]It has a boldness and edge, severelly lacking in most mainstream films (animated or not)...

You know what I would recommend you to watch? Cowboy Bebop anime, 26 sessions, and if you like jazz music you'll be koncked off your feet It is my all time favorite, I stumbled over it by accident some year ago and it kinda pulled me soemthing into anime scene...

The Blind King of Bohemia

If you liked the other two, which i presumed you did, how can you not like it. I have read the book and i don't think you could get a better adaptation. Only my opinion, but i truely thought it was the bees knees. Maybe when the extended version comes out your opinion might change.
I don't think the scouring of the Shire would have worked for me, the sadness was enough at the end. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

it wasn't really that i didn't like it, it's just that little things here and there bugged me. I agree its a good movie, in terms of a movie, but it didn't live up tothe book imho.

The battle of the pelennor looked very nice, i agree. But there are some things that just kinda urked me. Oh well, it's in a way my fault, i had high expectations for this movie and maybe thats why i am dissapointed.

On the note of the other movies, yes i did enjoy them. and ROTK's battle sequences to a good job in getting you right into the action. I may have sounded a bit one sided in my post before, and imo its a good moive but def not my favorite of all time.

cradle 2 the grave
LOTR series

you can probably tell my favourite genre of film from this list http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

unfortunately I dont know whats going to happen once jackie chan and Jet Li are retired. I mean theres some great fighters in movies like shaolin temple, but none of them have quite the same grimness of Li or the style that jackie has. Maybe we will have to do with sad acts like keanu reeves (honestly the fights were the worst part of the first movie, they were just so poor- at least in the second/third ones they showed a bit more ability)
