having spent quite a few hours reading the threads regards mods /tools etc then looking at all the files in the game regards creating campaign maps i was wondering is there a utilty/utilties to make the whole procedure easier.
the map editor i use for another rts does not effect the game in any way thus avoiding having to copy everything out so i dont have to duplicate all the files if i make a mistake. then i dont have to unistall reinstall the game. all the units/ calling reinforcements /placing buildings all the scripting actions are contained within the editor as well as is the map making this is also done within one utility.the editor within the game is a stand alone utilty in its own right. the fact is if you make a mistake it does not crash the game and the maps you create are easily incorparated in to the game is also a bonus. it does have its faults but compared to MTW its childs play the editor is similar to dragon 2003 but having tried to download from 3D loads i gave up. also i would require a bif editor. as well. also the opening of each window to perform various actions then closing them correct spelling is not required it performs all the actions within one utility is there one for MTW and which is it and were is it also were do i save it to it to which folders etc.
my version is ext1.00
intversion 21.0
so which mods etc are compatiable with mine.
i have tried messing about with some of the files etc but had to reinstall the game again i aint no expert modder by any stretch of the imagination so i was wondering why its such an unforgiving brute if you make the slightest mistake. and can it be made more user friendly so giving us mere mortals a chance. understanding it isnt the problem its the time consuming way you have to do things then if you mess up it either installing the back up files or all the game. surely it can be simplyfied without the problems of making one simple mistake and BOOOOOOOOOOM start all over again. maybe its something the developers should take note off. after all the easier it is to use the more people will buy it. and for all intents and purposes what is a fantastic game can be made even greater with a user friendly editor. that sells even more copies creating even more demand for games of the future. ?
