I was playing the Early campaign with the Hungarians on normal difficulty and and my king died of illness before an heir was old enough. I figured that it was game over but I got the message about a new king I'd never seen listed taking over. When I looked at the map the English were in control of all my provinces except for Hungary. Is this a bug?

The only thing I can figure out is that since I'd married off a princess to the Englishh a few turns before that they were somehow able to lay claim to my lands but how could that be?

The manual says that you can gain some lands of a faction if their royal line dies and one of your boys married one of their princesses. But many players (myself included) have never seen this. Consider yourself to be very, very lucky to see one of the more unusual features of the game.

Or vice versa? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif

When you mary your princess into another royal house, they might claim some of your lands if your king dies without proper heirs, meaning that his brother or something succeeds him. It works the other way around to, so except princesses when offered; I certainly do http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Yeah, I guess so. It just seemed pretty strange that this 39 y/o heir just appears after never having been on the list of heirs before.

I'll try and play a few more years and see if I can get back any of the former provinces when/if they rebel.
