im not really finding shogun a real challange these days,, would anyone else agree with me when i say the artificial intelligence leaves a lot to be desired?

I find even on expert my oposing clans dont really give much of a challange, in the battles i find my enemys to be rather predictable.

are there any mods available that increase the difficulty of the ai ?

the game seems to fall for my all too tempting tricks every time, one example: putting a high lvl kensai in bordering a province and watching the enemy send no more than a 120 troops or less in there each season to get theyre assses royally kicked and increase the honor of my own men..

i also find the enemy diamou to be rather silly in that, they will rush headlong into a losing battle regardless of if they have no heirs, the only way i can spare theyre lives is buy intenionally ordering my troops to stop and leave him to withdraw after crushing his entire army :|

any ideas ?

I agree with you that the AI can be a bit predictable, and the diplomacy aspect is really a farce. I don't know why they didn't integrate a 'decapitate' option for emissaries. I mean, they send back the heads of yours..

And yes, sometimes the daimyo does rush you, and yes, sometimes you have to stop your troops from killing him. Sometimes the enemy taisho rushes you and he is SA or something.... there are glitches....

I also hate how if your troops break, they rush INTO the enemy. Who the hell would do that??? They should run AWAY from the enemy, not INTO them......

I;d like to see some of these things fixed to.. it is undoubtedly possible....

Yes the AI is bad in WE. I just switched back to the original, the AI is much better there. Helped by the fact the AI clans don't fight eachother much and it is much harder to upgrade troops.

do u think there might be a way to revert the AI from the original shogun, and keep the new features from warlords edition?

does anyone know the location containing the unit behaviour ,or is it hardcoded into the game?

If stw/me is anything like mtw/vi (should be to some extent, eh?), then faction behavior can be modified in the startpos/txts about 2/3 of the way down in the file.

Can't check this as my dad has my stw disks and I presently don't have an install of same, but its something to look at, eh?
