Just got MTW

To All,

Just got MTW for Christmas and I have order the Viking Invasion expansion. I do need some advice.

1. What Patches are available and do I need them and why?

2. As for Mods vs straight game, advantages and disadvantages if any.

Get 1.1 for MTW, 2.01 for VI. These fix some bugs, improve gameplay, and are necessary for MP. Also you can download a mappack that is used in MP.

I like the WesMod.

A for mods, I would also recommend the Napoleonic mod, if you are into gunpowder… But for the time being, I would suggest that you ignore any mod and concentrate on the game itself

Definitely don't worry about modding in the beginning. Learn to play the game first and then mod what you want when you find out you don't like something...

If you do not have Viking Invasion, get the v 1.1 patch. The 1.0 SP game has the huge building queue bug that caused several good campaigns of mine to crash.

Get viking invasion. It makes a good game a little bit better Then get Kekvit mod which makes a little bit better than a good game, amazing.

Here's my advice to you:

Concentrate on the game for now, enjoy it's beaty, and when
you have finished a campaign or two, and won a series of battles, then get some mod's, cause you'll be able to diferentiate between the original game/units and the mod.

Thanks to All,
I just got th VI expansion. I will wait to install have and interesting English/Med units/normal/Early game going. Smashed the French in the third year, bought off the last remaining French rebel hold out. Bought of the thwe Welsh and Scots, 1146 have major war with Spain, all over the Kingdom of Araagon and allie. I could not let this happen. I finally had to take it to secure my main provences on that front.
The HRE is eyeing me over like hungry sharks and slowly bringing troops to the front. I hope civilwar breaks out in their kingdom soon. That would be a life saver. I will not count on it. I have s built up my provences with keeps and have armour and coverting non-armour to armour.
