Technically all the battles I posted were either lost by Romans or won by non-Romans. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

Yeah, too bad... If we had those full-scale naval battles, we'd have some great possibilities.

Zama - Romans(Scipio Africanus) vs. Carthaginians(Hannibal)
Aquae Sextiae - Romans(Marius) vs. Germans(Does anyone know the barbarian commander's name?)
Carrhae -Parthians(Surena) vs. Romans(Crassus)
Alesia - Romans(Caesar) vs. Gauls(Vercingetorix)
Pharsalus - Romans(Caesar) vs. Romans(Pompey)
Teutoberg Forest - Germans(Hermann) vs. Romans(Varus)
Towchester - Romans(Suetonius Paullinus) vs. Britons(Boudicca)
Masada - Romans(Silva) vs. Israelites(Ben Yair)
Mons Graupius - Romans(Agricola) vs. Picts(Calgacus)
Ctesiphon - Romans(Trajan) vs. Parthians(Osroes I)
*Vindobona - Romans(Maximus) vs. Germans(commander?)
*Vindobona was the battle in the movie Gladiator. It was a real battle though, and Maximus was a real person.(although never a Gladiator) Hollywood just took A LOT of liberties.

Well, they took a lot of liberties with LotR, and also with The Last Samurai... some yank becoming the last Taisho of the samurai? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif
GAH
Battle of Pigeon Forge.
Dolly Parton defends the citadel of Grand Ole Opry and the village of Dollywood from the mongrel hordes of overeducated Northerners.

I don't believe that Cruise was portrayed as the last of the samurai. Samurai is also plural and I believe it referred to all of the warriors who fought and died with Katsumoto. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I also didn't think the title referred to Tom Cruise's character. The Last Samurai IMO, either referred to Katsumoto or Samurai in the plural sense.
bit like an aussie playing william wallce, or the americans and the enigma code.
Welcome to Hollywood.

Remember what the rebellion of Katsumoto was against. It wasa against the changes in Japan, it was against foreign influences. So the fact they've taken up a foreigner is stupid in the first place.
But you all know Hollywood. Anyway, you only need to see the trailer, and some history to know how the story his going to be http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .
