View Full Version : Province Buildings lost in Battle
When I first startied playing, I saw a Mosque on the battlefield and use my arrow to destroy it. Can't remember if you them lost it of the province building list.
A Castle drops to a level, the port usually goes and some other buildings. What determines when a castle drops a level?
what you destroy on the battlefield does not affect what is damaged on the strategic map.
i think buildings get destroyed at random, and castles drop one level whenever conflict occurs in that province.

Yeah, i think it's toally random. Not sure thought, but soemtiems the castle level don't drop. but the port will be destroy http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif
i`d forgotten about the ports, more important than the castle, cause you can get trapped when it goes bye bye http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

It isn't totally random culturaly specific building like for example a mosque will be destroyed if the english take a muslim province and vice versa after that it does seem to be random.

I believe somewhere there is a modfier hard-coded into the games which decides what gets the axe or not.
Examples include Europeans being more destructive in general, due to their status as thugs when compared to the civilized arabs. Another is the destruction of opposing religious structures. I am surprised that ports get the axe so often, but I guess there is a real logical reason somewhere. There is also some difference between peoples like the English and the Irish, the latter being more likely to damage than the former. Another area of difference is havign groups with historical nastiness. If this game was based on WW2 for example, the Germans when engaging Russians would probably never take a province with anything at all left standing, save the occasion farm and some real tough structures, but if it was Germans versus French, the damage would actually be kept to minimum deliberately.
I may be wrong of course, but I recall hearing about that at some point ages ago.
You also lose the building under construction, even when the defender wins. This has cost me a fortune when trying to get the last farming upgrade for a province that was continually invaded by my allies. Agri-cultural Barbarians http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
I am not sure but a friend told me the same thing. We play together, I play battles, he plays strategy map. In a battle, he made me sick by telling me not to step on crops. I consider myself a big general for defeating an army without stepping on the %80 expanded crops. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif Similarly, I use routing archers to fire on buildings, when the defeat is certain, but I dont know for certain.
As far as I know, crops in the province do not suffer from attacks, only crop upgrades under construction. Anyway, the crops in the battle map alone are surely insufficient to produce that much income.
I don't think building at the battlemap correspond to those on the strategy map either. It are just village buildings. In the FAQ it is announced that
Quote[/b] ]What is cool and new is that when you fight a battle to control the city, every building that's in a city on the campaign map is there on the battlefield. Destroy a building in a siege, and it's gone on the campaign map. Storm a city and take it with siege towers, batterings rams or artillery and you'll find that you can use any buildings still standing to further your plans of conquest.

So it is probable that the destruction of buildings is a new feature for RTW.
