Personally, I would prefer to use the sword-dojo forum for this post, since it is generally common etiquette to use the proper forum for your request and/or topic, but due to the interesting but quite logical junior patron system, I am forced to utilize this entrance hall to put forth my business.

I have spent some time on and off editing the configuration files for the game Shogun Total War: Warlord's edition and found particular interest in the startpos files, which control the units, regions, and buildings used on the 5 basic campaigns. Using a text-editor, I discovered that all those criteria are defined via a number system, with each region having a 0-7 representing one of the clans, 2 is Mori, 0 is Ronin/Rebels and so on. Within each region, you can set buildings or soldier units, with all units having their own number. For soldiers you simply type in ::Makeunit: (Insert region number here) (insert unit number here) and if you feel so inclined, additional honour points can follow the unit number. The end result looks like this ::Makeunit: 15 0 1, which roughly translated is Archer unit in the province of Aki with 1 honour by default.

The units are predefined in the text directly, with each of the game's units number shown on top, but the order is changed with the introduction of Mongol units, so the original emissary, geisha, shinobi, and ninja numbers are now 21-26, instead of 13-18, the gap being filled with Koreans and Mongols.

The trouble I have is buildings. Unlike the soldiers, they are not predefined and with some 50+ structures, which is including the famous and legendary variants, of the dojos and so on, I cannot simply use the process of elimination to sort them all out, not without hours of time I do not have.

I am wondering if anyone knows where I could acquire such information, for it would make my plans of re-writing the campaigns to be more balanced much easier. It would also help to have the regions as well, for while it is much easier to sort those via elimination, it is still a big task nonetheless.

Thank you

I am working on d/ling the Hecose's one, I didn't think that was what the campaign editors did, since 99% of the other campaign editors I have seen for opther games tend to be based on linking missions, rather than creating entire campaigns. Still, it's all good http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif
