I've been playing MTW since it was released but have only recently started playing MP and was wondering about clans.
How do you go about joining one?
Which one should you join?
And probably the main one, do they accept noobs?
The is the first game I have felt deserved being played online so I have never been a member of any clan for any game.
All opinions are welcome http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif
Firstly, welcome to the MP community If you are interested in getting into a clan, this is the usual advise. Play with some of the players ( main who are from a clan ) on-line and see if they are the people who you are the most comfortable playing wif. Do feel free to mixed around and join in their games ( there is certain rules in their games of-course.. like no arty for example, or 15K florins game )
As different Clans have different policy, during this period of time on line it is well advise to check with them what kind of policy their clan have and what is their code of conduct. Some Clan emphasis on fun while some on honour and etc. etc.
Like i always said, every vets in the MP community was a noob once, so personally i don't feel being new in the game will restricted you from joining a clan you like though in some clans ( especially those more established ) would like you to prove yourself worthy before they sign you in but those new clans may not expect so much ( juz my 2 cents )
All in all, there are lots of friendly ppl around in the foyer who will always be happy to show you the ropes in MP playing. Joining a clan will definately enhence your skills as new found strategy or tactics is often share through their forum, but discipline and integrity in your conduct is a must in every clan.
Well, good luck for your endevours and welcome again for coming to the new world of multi-player. It is definately a new experience that you will find it challenging and fullfilling.

Greetings Ja'chyra
Good look in finding a clan.
My only advice is look for a clan that suits 'Who and what you are.'
For example......
Is it important to have members in your local area.
When do you play online
Will language be a problem
Do you have a specific interested, ie Roman history, the Crusades, the 100 years war.
I have always found that being with a group of like minded people helps. I have been with SHADES for 4 years, In Total war terms we have a limited presence, but we are a live and active clan in other games....
BASICALLY what I am saying is being in a clan should be fun...
Good luck.

a small peice of advite here
if you think that you'll be a long term member of TW then i suggest a vet clan, if you normally play other game's online then a newer type of clan would suit you.
many clan's of such come and go, its wise to remember that if you see yourself still playing this game in 6 months time, i suggest u try the long term type of clan.
except from the short term clan view, theres many good long term clans out there.

Yes i agree that if you do see yourself playing for the foreseeable future then a well establish clan (more than 6 months to a year at least) is probably your best bet as these well establish, (often called elite clans), will have in-clan trainers who will be of a high standard within the game and understand the game exceptionally well. It is from these players that, should you wish to better your skills you must learn.
If you wish to be able to see who the elite clans are you should look either ask in the forums or have a look at the nominations for most feared/most honourable/most respected etc in the HOF awards.
Hope thats helped you abit there fella.

how easy do you think it is to get into an "elite clan"
many have tryed for a long time and still failed for a long time.
there are many clans like mine who have average and above average players who can lift you up to their level and even above and these clans are easy to get into.
so you can spend 2 months trying to get into an old clan or you can spend 1 day getting into a newer clan.
the one thing you need to check is the enthusiasm of the members, an enthusiastic clan will last for a long while.
thanks dessa
or you can join a well-established clan which only recently tried (and succeeded) to gain a foothold in mtw and is on its way to become one of these so-called "elite-clans" ;)

Gah, "Elite clans" "new clans" all that matters is fun and playing time IMHO. You can be in the most Elite clan out there but if they speak a different language and/or if you never seen them because of different playing times then it wont be fun to be in that clan.
The only advantage I say some of the older established clans have is what 7bear7. They have good trainers who are experienced in training many new players and already have a sort of curriculum for advancing a players skills. Also one of the most fun parts of an established clan is that they usually take part in competitions much more so than new less organized clans. These competitions such as CWB and CWC are great fun win lose or draw and give training for them and added level of excitment and earnest.

If you seek oppression join a clan, if you like being bossed around, join a clan, if you like taking orders, join a clan, if you dislike freedom, join a clan, if you suck too bad to join one, stay ronin....like me.

Interesting take on Clans. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif
Except not all clan's give orders to their members. The 7Bear7 clan only expects you to do your best, learn, have fun, and respect all other people in the forum and games while playing.
Not too hard to fallow those rules......except for a few individuals.. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

you probably wont be able to get into the top clans straight away but there are many good clans out there you could get involved in, in about a month.
just remember attitude is important you may not be the most skilled but if your eager to learn and fit in with the clan then you should get in
when looking for a clan look at the players and how they conduct themselvesin the chat lobby
look at thier skill level maybe you want to join a skilled clan ?
look at thier website and check out thier forums make sure they seem to be a clan with staying power rather than just something someone thought up overnight
