I opened up CrusaderUnitProd11, and, in an attempt to create a new unit, I copy-and-pasted the entire Billmen 'entry' at the bottom, and renamed them 'PortugeseFootKnights.' I then, accordingly, made new description entries, and copied and renamed the Billmen graphics. But it don't work. It gives me a To few values found in element data: message that is titled to the effect of Unit Upkeep. I've modded in several units previously, with success. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Here is the actual 'entry':
PortugeseFootKnights INFANTRY 350 5 1 0 1 60 1 DISCOURAGED CATH_REBELS(5), CATH_LOYALISTS(15), CATH_PEASANTS(20), CATH_BANDITS(8), CATH_ZEALOTS(4), ORTH_REBELS(10), CATH_HERETICS(10) FN_SPANISH, FN_ARAGONESE ID_PORTUGAL POVERTY_STRICKEN(90), DESPERATE_DEFENCE(180), CATHOLIC_EXPANSIONIST(144), CATHOLIC_NAVAL_EXPANSIONIST(144), CATHOLIC_TRADER(180), CATHOLIC_CRUSADER_TRADER(180), CATHOLIC_EXPANSIONIST_CRUSADER(144), CATHOLIC_DEFENSIVE_CRUSADER(216), POPE(270), CATHOLIC_DEFENSIVE(216), CATHOLIC_ISOLATIONIST(270), ORTHODOX_DEFENSIVE(216), ORTHODOX_EXPANSIONIST(144), ORTHODOX_STAGNANT(180), MUSLIM_PEACEFUL(180), MUSLIM_EXPANSIONIST(144), MUSLIM_DEVOUT(144), BARBARIAN_RAIDER(72), REBELS(180), CLOSE_TO_SUPPORT_LIMIT(54) { SPEARMAKER3 } DEFENDER,SPEAR 0 HIGH, LATE YES HEIGHT( 85 ), RADIUS( 25 ), SCALE( 120 ), PROJECTILE_TYPE( NONE ), SAMURAI( NO ), MARCH_SPEED( 6 ), RUN_SPEED( 10 ), CHARGE_SPEED( 11 ), MIN_TURNSPEED( 2 ), MAX_TURNSPEED( 8 ), TURN_TO_MOTION_SPEED( 8 ), MAX_INMOTION_TURN( 96 ), FORMATION_WIDTH_SPACING( 60 ), FORMATION_LENGTH_SPACING( 60 ), ENGAGEMENT_THRESHOLD( 1500 ), CHARGE_BONUS( 2 ), MELEE_BONUS( 2 ), DEFENCE_BONUS( 4 ), ARMOUR_LEVEL( 3 ), HONOUR_LEVEL( 2 ), AMMO( 0 ), FORMATIONS_PREFERRED_NUM_ROWS( 4 ) NO own_unit_tooltip1, own_unit_tooltip2, other_unit_tooltip1, other_unit_tooltip2 MSHELM, YES, YES ID_PORTUGAL FN_SPANISH, FN_ARAGONESE Missile, Shocktroop, Spear, Cavalry SKIRMISH(1), ADVANCE_PARTY(1),

(Umm... sorry about length, but I figured it would be easier...)

Thanks for any help, in advance.

Hello Dillenger, from me to you. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I'm no modder but I am an ex-programmer. Have you re-checked the line you copied from the billmen? In particular, the delimiters/separators which looks to be a space and a comma. When you copy a line it is real easy to miss a critical character at the beginning or end of a line - especially if it is a non-visible character such as a space.

Hello Dillinger

Can't help you but have 2 questions:

Are you making a Portuguese Mod?
When will it be available?

Good luck, hope you solve the problem.

Nah, nothing that extensive. I just thought that Portugal should have been represented better, and figured having a Portugese unit would do this. Sorry.

And thanks for the welcomes, and tip.

Download the Gnome Editor here on the .org, it makes messing around with the stat files much easier and safer
I hope you have a backup of your old file, to try again.

Yeah, downloaded it, loaded the back up, and fixed it. Gnome Editor makes it considerably less straining on the eyes. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
