Hi and welcome, altti http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
Although addicted to the Total War series for a looooooonnng time, I still play several types of games:
-Homeworld series.
-Neverwinter Nights + Expansions
-Warcraft 3
-Diablo 2 LoD
-Quake 3
-Half-Life
-Deus Ex
-MOHAA
-RTCW
-Jedi Knight 2
-Il-2 Sturmovik
-GP 4
-IWar 2: Edge of Chaos
And quite a few more simulators...
Yeah, I know. Although quite a few are very old, and I don't play them anymore, some of them are still fun http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I'm waiting for Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Deus Ex 2, etc... and, of course: ROME TOTAL WAR http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/birthday.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/birthday.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/birthday.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/birthday.gif

Revenant69, you have good taste at least when it comes to computer games. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
ID is good but BG is just awesome.
Aymar, thanks for the welcome. You have a wider taste for games apparently. Did you play ID or BG prior to Neverwinter Nights? I saw NwN at my friends home but somehow it didn't just do it for me...

The Thief series (Thief: The Dark Project, Thief Gold, Thief 2: The Metal Age.
So immersive, atmospheric. Best games together with the Total War series EVER. PLus it has a great number of wonderful Fan-made Missions to download, great websites decicated to it and of course it stars Garrett, Master Thief..... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

Unfortunatelly no. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
I heard they were awesome, specially BG 2 story-wise, but apparently they were never sold in Portugal.
Since they were old games, I never got around to buy them through Amazon or something like that... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif
After Bioware / Forgoten Realms launched Neverwinter Nights as their sucessor in the series, I jumped right in http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
My friend, the game is awesome: alluring, complex and time-consuming. Maybe too much Presently, I have no time to play it... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

I completelly agree Nothing could compare at the time
I have them both. I didn't forgot them, although beeing old I should have included them, before some other simulators.
Too bad Looking Glass Studios went bankrupt http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
They created them and the awesome System Shock 1 and 2.
Strangelly, like Battlezone, these 4 games were praised by ALL reviewers, but never got big sales... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

Hey altti, thanks for the compliment http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
I find that as on person grows old, their taste in games matures. Perhaps that has something to do with my choice of games http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif
One game i forgot to put on the list, but cant forgive myself for doing so is Fallout 2. Absolutely wicked RPG game, you can be a gigolo, a drug addict, scourge of the wastes, porn star, you name it. One of the all time favorites of mine.
About Neverwinter nights, I wasnt too impressed by it. Just because its 3D it doesnt mean that it is good. In fact i love the old isolinear view of BG series etc. 2D graphics do just fine IMHO. Besides, damn NwN didnt run on my machine - even with two different video cards - so i gave up on it. But I have seen my freinds play it and all in all was not too impressed to say the least.
I dont understand why game developers have to jump on the 3D bandwagon, 2D games can be just as good if not better. Oh well. I digress.

Well those are some of my favortites, dont get me started again by menioning some great game if forgotten like master of orion, doh http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif , o well, master of orion 2&3 gets on the list along with master of magic and clonozation and... no I have to stop now, otherwise this would become an infinite list, and an infinite list will take up infinite hard disk space and infinit hard disk space has an infinite mass, and since the host probably doesnt have infinite storgare space that infinite mass would form a singularity evolving to a black hole, and we wouldn want that would we. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

how could i forget this one..
Homeworld 1 (the demo of the second made me think they took out my favorites parts of the original)
Planescape: Torment, Fallout 1/2, Arcanum
Sacrifice (Great game that nobody ever mentions)
Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos (Even less people mention this one, and it's just as good)
System Shock 2, Deus Ex 1
Star Control 2 (And the UQM is turning out well)
Infiltration for Unreal Tournament (Iron sights and deadly weapons)
Unreal Tournament (Cause sometimes, you don't want smart, you just want boom)
Master of Orion 2
And of course, Total War
Gothic_war_monkey

Now lets think...
Battlefield 1942+expansions(multiplayer)
Operation flashpoint(sp and mp but also moddability)
Jedi Knight 2
SW: Galactic Battlegrounds (maybe)
I also like the close combat series and i wish there was a better strategic WW2 game. Maybe a WW2 RTW mod would do the trick as the battlefield system is better suited than provinces.

Greetings and welcome Gothic_war_monkey and MAJORPAIN. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Thanks for joining us and I hope you do stay awhile.
On the PC I am currently playing (rather sparingly):
MTW/VI (and barocca's Shogun mod)
Deus EX
Railroad Tyco 3
Thief: The Dark Project
Call of Duty
Since my PC time has been limited of late, I've been playing some PS2 games to hold me over:
Medal of Honor: Rising Sun
SSX Tricky
NFL Game Day 2004
NASCAR Thunder 2004
Silent Hill 3
Why is it that the other RTS (Age of Empires Series and its clones or the Command And Conquer games) are missing from majority of the posts. Its either RPGs or FPS aside from Empire Management. Also Racing Games are lacking, anyone here play NFS:Underground?
I tried Rise of Nations and after a battle I couldn't play anymore. The strategy, planning and tension of TotalWar is just too addicting that I try to look for it in any war game I play, even if Rise of Nations has the Risk-type map of the world.
Any thoughts?
What I'm playing now is:
Medieval Total War (Irish)
Railroad Tycoon 3
Civilization 3 Conquests (the medieval scenario is great especially with regards to MTW)
Counterstrike
Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark (just finished)
My all time favourite would however be Privateer 2: The Darkening. A game that hooked me so totally that it became almost impossible to get my attention for anything. When not playing it I would just sit with a numb stare and not hear a thing of what was said to me. My girlfriend soon dubbed it Deprivateer because of reduced ativity on other fronts. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-rolleyes.gif

So many games, it's hard to narrow down the list. These are the ones I find myself pulling back off the shelf months after moving on to something else, that are always fun to play again.

Civilization III
Caesar III
Homeworld
Europa Universalis
Sacrifice
RPG:
Morrowind
Baldur's Gate series
Planescape: Torment
MMORPG:

Honorable Mention:

How many are we allwed to put on these lists?
Well I'll stick with the four I've got on my hard drive :)
MTW-VI: One of those rare games that just seem to bring it all together in one package :D
CM03/04: Improved CM4 no end :)
GTA-VC: Havn't played GTA3 so can't compare but having an actual plot line was a damn good move :D
SWAT3: Bit of an oldie but i liked what they did with it good fun all round :D
Thought of another one that deserves an honourable mention, maybe not a game as such but still talk about a neiche(sp) market and that is:-
ATCC: Air Traffic Control, like I said neiche(sp) market but still quite good add to that the fact Version 2 has taken 5 years and still aint here don't make RTW being pushed back 12 mths all that bad does it :D

My favorite games would have to be,
Morrowind + its expansion packs.
Diablo 2,
Doom 1 (can't wait for number 3 - it might be the only game to stop me playing M:TW)
Icewind Dale 2
Max Payne 2
Red Alert 1 + 2 (not so much the original C+C or Tiberian Sun)
Im a Morrowind Mod's player 1st, all others games came after http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Online I use to play Bf1942 with Dc, eod and Fh mods.
CoD
Il2-fb
Offline, besides morrowind, fs2004, Rb3d with fcj addon.
Unfortunalty since i got Mtw +vi and medmod, I cant do anything else.
I'm 2 addicted to it. Still trying to install and test at least 2 morrowind mods per day, but when doing so I'm thinking in what would be My next step towards My current early campaign as the English.
As My fav all time games, for sure Morrowind, Crimson Skies, Gta series, Il2 series, Rb3d (this game is out for more than 5 years and still 3th party addons coming every month), Mohaa, Aa, homeworld, startcraft, warcraft 1 and 2 and finally the Sims.
Not to mention oll Spectrum 48k games as Manic miner, Elite, f16 or the Amica 500 wings of glory.
And of course Dos games as Red baron 1.
Meaning I'm getting older, as I keep on playing 19 years after my 1st comp.
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif
- Hearts of Iron (best available WWII Grand Strategy game, especially if modded)
- Diablo (not Diablo II, just plain old good Diablo)
- Steel Panthers : World at War

Europa 1400? Awful, just awful. No period flavor at all. Threw it in the trash after two hours. If Chariots is anything like Legion - by the same company - you might want to pass on that too.
