Shogun - I "win" but the game doesn't say so

I'm in the my final push against that bastard Hojo. However, I keep attacking this territory and winning every time, yet the win screen doesn't come up, even though I killed the general and the enemy has routed out of the playing field. Occasionally, these little Yari Ashiguru reinforcements come and are quickly dispersed by me. How do I win fights like these? I massacre them yet I still am defeated. What do I have to do, kill every single one of them?

you could disable time under battles..i never use it myself but that could be your problem..

Are you playing the original STW or the Warlords Edition? The WE had a pathing problem in which single men would get hung up against trees and not be able to move around it. These buggers where very hard to see amidst the trees. Perhaps that is what is happening. Try sweeping the map for the odd man or two remaining on the battlefield and giving the win to Hojo.
