I'm having troubles converting the Burgundians to playable Scots in the following ways:

1. I keep getting assigned to burgundy province, how do reassign the faction to be based in Scotland?

2. On the campaign map, my units and buildings still have the Burgundian flag. I have gotten the Scottish flags by download and added them, and they work in the bottom left icon and in many of the pop up description windows. The units and buildings still are wrong thoug

Any kind of help is welcomed. Thanks

Greetings Connor, go to the set region owner heading in your startpos mod txt file and look for this entry
//SetRegionOwner:: ID_SCOTLAND FN_REBEL
remove the // and FN_REBEL and add FN_BURGUNDIAN
this will sort the province bit
as to the flags I will get right back to you...LOS

a brief follow up: I just got the region switch to work, but I still am having problems with the unit shields on the campaign board. I also would like to know how to change the battle voices from Burgundian to Scotch, and also how to change the battle colors from blue and yellow to blue and white.

OK, what flag bifs do you have how many and what size? also what folders have you put them in already?

OK, you need to set the sheild in startpos file under this heading
//========================================
//Faction Shields
//the filenames of the large and small
//shield images that each faction uses.
//These should be BIF images and stored in
//campmap/shields
//========================================

//faction name, large image name, small image name

SetShieldImage:: FN_REBEL default_lge default_sml Almohad F1000 F1000

adding as SCOTS_LGE and SCOTS_SML and the flag number you have assigned the scots flag you have downloaded, using the FN_BURGUNDIAN label of course,, the sheild is already in the shileds folder...LOS.

I have done as you said above, and it worked to update the menu windows and such. My problem is that the game pieces still possess the old Burgundy flags and shields on themselves (those pieces you move around on the board I mean). Is there any way to get them to change?

Also I could use tips on name creation/editing. I want to create Scottish names for my old Burgundian faction, but I fear simply replacing the French name group (the Burgundy fed off of I'm guessing) would give the French faction Scottish names as well. Is it possible to create a completely seperate name group for Burgundy alone without changing the French?

Hi, MuseRulez http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Welcome to the ORG. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

You've got to be specific.
What files did you altered? What did you altered in them?

Well Muse if you backed up any files before changing them dlete any altered files and reintsall the back ups, this should restore all to normal if you did not back things up maybe a reinstall over what you have should set things right...LOS

I have also found it extremely easy to screw up the text files for campaigns. My suggestion is back up everything and absolutely NO Superfluous editing. Edit it only just enough to get the mod you want and leave it at that I say. Good luck When I started I was afraid of having to reinstall a million times but it turned out to be less difficult to mod than I thought. I still have problems with the game pieces and names as listed above though.

New Problem: I have managed to switch my faction's home to Scotland, but apparently the game still thinks the king is in Burgundy. When Burgundy was invaded it acted as though the province were mine and it also thought the king was there, despite the fact that I can see nothing in or around Burgundy on the campaign map. When I simply ignored the invasion it said my king was killed and the game ended. How do I get it to think my king is in Scotland with the rest of my faction?

Conner, to set your king in Scotland look for this heading in your startpos mod txt file
//========================================
//Place Faction Leaders
//Place the Leader of each active faction
//in a country.
//If the leader of an active faction is
//not placed, that faction will die out
//immediately after the first turn is made
//========================================
and add this entry:
PlaceLeader:: ID_SCOTLAND FN_BURGUNDIAN
and to lose any provinces that may belong to Burgundians anytime you place these lines // in front of any entry and it will be taken out of the game.
And yes it is an old Modders maxim to always Back up any files before making chnages and also make only a few edits at a time then start your game to be sure it had the desired result, beats backtracking after making alot of changes...LOS
