Sorry I accidently hit enter.
My problem is when I'm playing MTW in a campagin battle, it will either crash or restart my computer. I've done many different thigns to resolve this. I've updated all drivers possible, tuned down my sound card, messed with refresh rate, and etc.
When I first installed the game it was ok and I didnt have that many problems. Also the changes I made to the refresh rate helped for about a week. I may try uninstalling/reinstalling to see if that helps. Can someone please help me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

Do you have Viking Invasion? I used to experience the same problem till' I got vi. Apparently, it doesn't know how good our FX cards are and just crashes, or just doesn't know what to do. Also, if your game gets choppy when you do play battles, I bet we have/had the same problem. Only advice is try the latest update.

I should just spellcheck before I post.

Nope I dont have VI. I've also updated my vid card and still had no success. Again the only improvement I've had so far was from adjusting the refresh rate =[. Ya I had the same idea - I think it is our video cards. Bleh =\ Oh well if you have any more ideas and also did you fix your problem? Im in a hurry cause of the Patriots game so I'll chk later.
thanks

Hello Schigny http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif The Patriots game was a good one as was the Panthers/Rams game.

You said you didn't have this problem at first. Can you figure out what changed on you system about the time this problem started? A driver update perhaps? Sometimes the latests drivers is not the way to go.

Also, do you have the MTW patch installed?

It was a good game Gregoshi =P. So was the Chiefs/Ind game that just ended... poor Chiefs http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Anyways back to my problems. I'm really not sure what were the first changes I made. I went ahead and downloaded the patch and never played on 1.0. So I've only played on 1.1 for those first few days I had the game. I was experiencing minimal crashing and so I decided to fix it because I like my gaming to be perfect with no bumps( I should of just accepted it =[ ). I think the first thing I did was either download my video card drivers or my directx.
The only improvments I've had was setting my refresh rate to 75 hertz and overriding the dirx setting to 75 hertz; this went well for about 5 days. I have no memory of doing anything else or updating anything. It just went to back to crashing for no reason I know of.
Well if you need any mroe information go ahead and ask. I'll do anything to resolve this problem http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif.

If you have an old spare hard drive install clean OS on it and then the game. Try it.
If it still fails you may try the trick that helped me - pull out one chip of your memory. I had 512MB DDR RAM and after pulling out 256MB chip game ran very well.

before bothering with updates to drivers you need to trim XP. go www.blackviper.com and find out about all the excess junk that xp runs and then follow their guide on how to turn some of this junk off. that shld help with your crashes all by itself.

Schigny, do you have an update for us? Have you managed to solve your problem? If so, what fixed it?

To fix refresh rates, one of the best solitions is Refreshlock utility, it's free. http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rl/ I usually use 100Hz (1152x864). 85Hz should be minimum.
BTW, I have the same problem and I'm trying to solve it. No problems on former config - Soltek, Athlon XP 2000+ . Now MSI and AMD 2500+ (no overclocking and such crap).
