This preordering has got me a bit confused.

I just had a look on the amazon.co.uk website and they have the release date listed as 5th April 2004. However on the totalwar.com website they're still saying the game's due for a fall 2004 release.

Are amazon just full of it and trying to con everyone out of their cash months in advance, or has the release genuinely been brought forward by about 6 months?

amazon is full of it. loads of places allow you to pre-order games and run off the last officially announced release date from the games publisher (ie, activision), not the developer, aka The CA.

Don't pre-order it until The Creative Assembly give some sort of concrete date (aka its due gold on xxxx). You're just buying something you might got get for nearly a year otherwise.

Absolutely true. Preordering doesn't guarantee a damn thing. The local software emporium may still get it first.

Read Amazons TOS, You'll find they don't take your money till the game's dispatched, even if you preorder 3 years before the game is released.
