View Full Version : Does VI have another 3D engine?

I just installed VI, and the units seem to be more detailed. Before, when I went very close to a unit, they looked like a sprite from my old commodore 64, but now, there seems to be a lot better definition on them. Anyone know this?

Another thing: On the VI cd is a trailer from Rome:TW. Does anyone know if there is any in game footage in that trailer? As in game engine rendered? Or is it just a nice animated film? I'm probably expecting too much and not being realistic.

Im pretty sure the game uses same engine. Some units are much better looking than other units maybe thats why you see the difference.


There are lots of RTW videos out there. The Time Commanders show (BBC2) uses the RTW engine and several episodes can be downloaded. And there are also several official videos too. Check Colosseum for links.

I don't know about the graphics of the VI units. But about the RTW movie, as far as I'm aware it isn't in game footage. All the barbarians look different in the VI RTW trailer whereas in other ones I've seen they all look the same, and I've read in places that it is an animated film. Thanks a lot Trash, that is the colosseum all right. I'll have to wait for senior thingie to be able to post or vote though :)

I can't seem to find said films there, so I am off to google.
