In your opinion, what is the best mod for MTW? I've heard that MedMod is good, but that it also has flaws (i.e. the Straits of Gibraltar are unpassable by ship, the English have no access to archers, etc.).

Also, how is it possible to have this on your computer and still play in multiplayer?

Thanks

lol. Bumping is funny.

I would say Med Mod, but that is a little biased, as I have never tried any other mod. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-happy2.gif

Well I may be biased but I would recomend NTW Napoleonic Total War, its more a full conversion then a Mod, everything that could be changed has been, to give the Mod a true Napoleonic look and action in gameplay, over 100 new units, period portraits, buildings and much more , the thing about liking a mod is if you are truly interested in the period the Mod is to represent, so if you like thundering Cavary charges, blazing Musket fire on smoke filled battlefeilds by all means give NTW a look, our web sites for download are here The Lordz website for NTW Mod (http://www.thelordz.co.uk)
and also you can get up to date info and support at our Lordz Forums here

I like BKOB's 30 faction mod. The added factions make the game a lot more interesting and realistic.

Hello Gambit.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten more responses than you have. There are a few mods that have people talking:

Middle Earth Total War (under contruction)
Napoleonic Mod
MedMod (always under constant improvement/tweaking)
Hellenic Mod (under construction I believe)
BKS's Mod
Shogun Mod (under construction)

I hope I didn't forget any of the other popular mods.

As for your question, to play online and have a mod installed, you need to have two separate installs of the game. Simply install the game again and put it folder other than the default, c:\Program Files\Total War\MTW Shogun Mod for example.

So far Hellenic: Total War is my favorite, I love Ancient Greece, so I am a bit biased. Napoleonic: Total War is incredible, also.

When Middle Earth: Total War is finished, it will be my favorite, because they are converting the map, and everything. I can't wait, I drool at only the thought. For now, though, I'd place my money on Hellenic: Total War.

One note: Fall of Rome is a very, very good Mod. It actually has the Second place on my list, but only because that is my favorite period of history. It's only one scenario, but I think it is a blast to play. Byzantines are a bit too powerful, however.
