Guides for Modding

i'm currently in the process of editting together all my posts on modding from the WTC into one or a series of comprehensive guides of what you can do, and how to do it.

this information would then be published in the Total War Library Total War Library (http://www.freewebs.com/blackprince). however, my information is by no means complete, simply due to the fact that there is some stuff i have never been asked about, and some stuff i've never done myself.

so i'm in the process of trawlingthrough the modding forums of both the org and .com finding the guides that give the key information.

but of course, i didn't write these guides, so basically, i'm asking permissionto use people like kekvitirae's and Lord of Storms work/information, fully credited of course, to supplement my one stuff, and so have the definitive guide on basic and semi basic modding all together in one place. (instead of scattered over several threads and forums on 3 websites)

if anyone wants to help me compile this guide, or has already written a "how to" like Kekvits how to create a new unit, or how to make the sahara playable, feel free to email the complete guide, or direct me to the post, or just plain mail me, and i'd really appreciate the help

cheers guys, i've been answering queries from people about modding over at .com today, and i've realised
a) how much knowledge i personaly have accumulated
b) how much time this is gonna take (forever)
c) how some people never bother to check stuff first before asking questions

i.e. can you change factions colours?
no you can't
errr, yes you can says i eheheh

it makes my beliwef more firm that if only the communities collective information wasin one guide in one place, every time i see a question i could simply say, go to page 14 or pag 21 etc etc

this will it seembe a long task, longer than i realised.
i think whati shall do italk people through what different sections in files do, like early early.txt or crusader_unitprod, then combine these elements into a how to create new units, how to mod a faction, how to add new periods, the sort of common mods people do.

i'll probably leave out graphics, as i'm no expert at that, i'm a script editor mainly, so this guide won't be nearly good enough for creating things like the Nap mod.
i'll add to this with posts and descriptions on how to do other stuff, mainly drawn from the wealth here.

I'll take care of the unit graphics part, so don't worry about that. My guide is almost finished. Once the technicalities are all covered I will probably add some small tutorials to make modding more accessible.

Good luck with it, you will help alot new modders Although there will always be the ones who ask before they think.
