I was just wondering what advantage, if any, does the AI get from you waiting for better weather when attacking? Does their deployment improve if you wait longer?
I noticed this one time I had a missle strong army and weather was stormy; I clicked to wait a number of times, to see if it improved, and it said that the enemy was upon us http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-blank2.gif But does this yield any advantage to the AI or penalise me for my lack of enthusiasm of getting my feet wet?

Sorry if this has been raised before, cheers for any answers

I don't think it changes anything, I beleive its only implemented so you don't just keep waiting around while your sitting in hostile territory. I mean after five days in an enemy province your suplies would be running low and you would have to attack or retreat no matter what.

But to answer your qustion, no i don't beleive the AI gains anything from it.

Beyond weather, waiting has never made a difference that I've noticed. The stats have been so analyzed that I can't imagine any such combat bonus for a defender being over looked.

You will see the enemy is upon us alert when you wait 3-4 times. It is a set value (I guess). There is no improvement in the defender's position. Although I would expect (realistically) a decrease in defender's morale (as they dont know when you are going to attack, which would decrease their focus and motivation) and fatigue (as they will have to stay awake all the time, as they have to stay prepared for the battle).

Surely the extra time would also allow the defender to prepare their position also I know that there probably will not be prepared defences in RTW (other than sieges on castles etc.) But it would be nice to see a feature that effects the defenders ability to choose the best location on the battlefield to defend. Therefore the longer the attacking force waited the more could be learned by the defending general on what troops to plan for etc. They would be more likely to know the terain afterall.

Hey, i'm just thinking out loud here, if you think it's a s*@t idea then feel free to tell me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif

I think it is only related to weather and it's there so you simply can't click on wait until you get the weather you want.

Waiting won't give the defender a better position. He's the defender, so he will have picked the best position and stayed there long before you have arrived. Waiting only influences the weather (IIRC the program tends to give the AI better weather).
