Although I've had Viking Invasion for some time; last night was the first time I'd really played the campaign mode. I started as the Vikings and before long was running out of money I realise that provinces with abbeys are good earners but do the abbeys get rebuilt? Are there other ways of guaranteeing good income quickly?

Also does the Viking King suffer the same penalities as other rulers when they suddenly jump half way across the map to invade somewhere? (i.e loss of loyalty) Or does his influence drop when a raiding army moves on to greener pastures and that province is lost to rebels?

Sorry for the blitz of questions, they always seem to come to me all at once http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif

Cheers

If enough time passes, the destroyed abbeys will be rebuilt. However, I don't advise to raid the same provinces more than once.At some point you have to take and keep provinces(start with the islands). So stop raiding after you raided every province once.

I build agriculture upgrades and mines in most provinces I conquer. But build pagan shrines first to raise the loyalty of the population.I produce troops only in the two starting provinces.Actually, even the huscarls of the royal family provide you with enough troops.

I don't know the exact answer to your other questions. But I never had any trouble with the influence of viking kings.

Viking raiding is done as follows:

1) Attack and conquer province.
2) Destroy all building & raise taxes to max
3) Completely abandon the province.

#3 may be tough, but early in the game you are raiding, not conquering. BTW, the rich rebel provinces in the southeast corner of jolly old England are a good place to start. Cha-ching http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-greedy.gif
