View Full Version : Small Fast Christian Unit
I would like to use a unit as Christian which operates similar to these.
These would be similar to the "Magnificient Seven" or "7 Samurai".
They would be only 7 soldiers in the unit, but maximums for Charge, Attack, Armor, Defence, Morale, and Fast.
The High Armor rating would be based on the ability to defend with weapons.
What are the Maximums allowed.
Also, I would only allow these to be created in with Master Swordsmiths to limit there. Also there cost will exceed 2000 florins and 500 per turn support.

Just remove the impetousness from them and ad armor and a longbow. Should be simple enough.
I saw mention of Beserkers.
What do you need to create them ?

Eh?
Get Gnome Editor, and mod them in for the desired Christian Faction. They are unavailable in the Medieval Campaign otherwise. Then, you mod it so that they are un-impetous, and have high armor, and a LongBow.
Of course, this would only work for VI.
Cool. Got the Editor. Will give it a whirl.
Yes. Already have backups of the files.

You should give them naptha grenades they can throw for a mile, with a firing rate of 30/second. Just to be sure, you know... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-toff.gif
Grenades. Now that is a good idea.

Nice idea but they would be vunerable to missles unless they had extra hitpoints which could be devasting if it costs so much to train & support them. The kensai in STW would have been similar & I found that they normally where killed by missile fire.
I would like each man in the team to have about the hitpoints of 100 men to reflect the high skill level of these men.
1200 Chivalric Men-At-Arms = 12 Questing Hero Team. And have the appropriate costs.

Also, they should be able to teleport, or at least move faster than Alan Mercs.
How about Big swords for hand to hand, hand held organ guns with a refire rate of 30/min for close range, Holy hand grenades for medium and longbows for long range (modded to cross the map of course ;) ).
Quote[/b] ]The kensai in STW would have been similar & I found that they normally where killed by missile fire.I only every built these guys with full armour and weapons and hid them in woods or behind my front line before charging at the enemy so that they weren't cut down by enemy fire. My most effective seige army ever was 10 or so v9, w3, a3 kensi and maybe a couple of battlefield ninjas :D
Back to the first post, in more or less serious mode, they are already existant & quite common.
All you need to do is dismount your high or late era Royal Knights.
RK are frequently fairly high valour (& often the highest you'll find due to princes' v&v) & late/high dismount to give Chiv Foot Knights which are pretty tough with lots of armour, high attack/defense and both armour piercing & bonus vs cavalry.
Thus a small unit with high attack available to christians.
Only problems are that they are slow and they are generally better off mounted.

Would possession of Antioch be a build pre-requisite? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Isn't there some kind of hidey units with bows a bit like the Hashishin in Mercia and Wales? Sherwood Foresters and Welsh Bandits? Does anyone have any idea what kind of stats these lads have, as I haven't seen them pop up in any of my campaigns yet?
Quote[/b] ]Would possession of Antioch be a build pre-requisite?
'Thou shalt take out the pin and count to three. Thou shall count to three and only to three, no more, no less. Thou shalt not say four, or even five. Once the number three has been counted thou must lobbest thy Holy Hand Grenade towards thy foe who shall then be smited' or something along those lines, not perfect by a long way but it gives you the gist ;) got to love Monty Python :D

No.
Personally I'd like Sir Robin and his minstrels.Brave Sir Robin ran away,
Bravely ran away, away.
When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled.Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly, he chickened out. Bravely taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin.
His Mistrel's lyrics. (http://www.wilken.freeserve.co.uk/Montypython/Songs/song5.htm)
Just think they'd increase moral and could prevent rebellions from your more annoying Generals.
Sir Robin with sound (http://www.stmoroky.com/sirrobin/song.htm)
Uh, for the fast in the thread title, you just keep your high/late royal knights mounted...

I have sometimes thought about installing a second version of MTW, and modding the naptha throwers have the range of the map. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Never got around to it, though.
