hey all

ive been wodnering if anyon yout there has a death of general as embarrsing or as funny as mine.

I was playing the Italians, with about 2 years to go before 1453...the last kingdom was of the Germans who had holed up in Northumbia castle, while my army beseiged it.i decided to assualt the fort...after my army made short work the Germans cept one pesky unit whihc i couldnt find.. i sent my army out looking for the pest, while i sent king to tackle the plaidase walls..funnily enough he did a fine job, which ensured his death when the wall came tumbling down upon him..i was very lucky that he had 7 heirs..anyway...like to hear your stories

cheers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif

I think I have kiled close to a dozen generals by my own catapult, maybe I need to stop loving them and take them out of the first 16.

One of my embarrasing deaths was during a castle siege. I was sieging some castle with newly acquired bombards. It was a lot of fun as it was the first time I used cannons in a siege.

Well, it seems that I forgot that bombards have arather nasty tendency to explode. And my general wanted to oversee the bombardment in person and so ventrured to where the battery was located.

Next thing I know.....BOOM.....bombard explodes, taking my general and most of his entourage with it and also killing alot of other bombard crewmen.

My army was confused for a little bit but managed to successfully conduct the siege due to the superior firepower.

Every time after that I deployed bombards at least 100 metres apart and never ventured close to them with any important unit.

Trapped in the castle, i put my general next to the wall so he could charge at the units coming through the gate (the AI had troops storming the gate), then i hear the sound of a catapult fire and three boulders come crashing into my wall, the wall goes down and crushes my general. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/jawdrop.gif

Mine was about the same as the above...

Playing as the Turks, I had saved Constantinople until I had jannissaries and siege cannons.

So when the big day came and I finally could tear the place down, I came there with a big force of jannissary heavy infantry, and jannissary normal infantry, paired with four siege cannons and a unit of late ghulam bodyguards with my greatest general, with the best V&V's I had ever had and with 9 stars.

So, I started bombarding Constantinople with my siege cannons, putting one to destroy the barbican.

I left my troops out of range, or so I thought, until the walls were torn down and I could charge in.

The first shot of the entire siege, fired by the machinery in the barbican, crushed my general. Only my general. He was flat as a pancake, lying under that rock.

Needless to say, I was flabbergasted http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-stunned.gif

Later, I took my wrath by tearing down every last bit of Constantinople. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

If you mean king then no, you cannot disband any member of the Royal family while they are still in line for the crown or are the current king. But after they are no longer considered "royal" and become normal generals then you can disband them.

On a beleagured(sp) castle holding the border, my 8-star excellent defender/good assault defender general was assaulted by the evil Italians. Due to having an artillery tower I was able to crush most of his 800+ force. I killed their general once he got into my castle, and the enemy began to flee. The general and his 4 surviving men decided to chase down the foe from the field, and was promply hit by my own catapult after leaving the castle.

Needless to say, the castle fell next turn.

I was playing as the Saxons, and my King was moving in front of a group of my own archers who were peppering some enemy units opposite my King. I heard whispers of dissent, and I noticed the arrows were falling on my King's unit A few of his beloved retainers died in this way (so much for armor), and I quickly extricated him from the mess. It would have been a terrible way to go.

In a MP game I was on the side that unfortunately lost one player due to server problems. We fought on. I ended up starting a chain route, and taking out about two armies in it. My allies eventually got knocked out leaving me to face the remnants of 3 different armies. I managed to actually rout a good amount of them, and had about 4 units left, 2 foot inf, 1 arb and my gen. my gen was down to about 8 men. I made the mistake of stopping him right in front of a handgunner unit somehow, and eventhough everyone on the field was exhausted, he got hit by the very first volley from the very tired handgunners. He obviously died, and the rest of my army ran. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-oops.gif

Quite the reverse:

I sent one particularly poor faction leader on a suicide mission to Serbia. 16 men versus over 1,000 hardened Spanish troops... They chickened out and abandoned the province

Looks like i got another one....i sent my English prince to go attack the rear of a Byzantine force stopping me on my crusade to Jerusalem..happened to be a unit of trebizond archers..thought they looked by easy prey so i said why not and charged..they happened to move into a forest in which my general was promptly killed which resulted in the total rout of my army..and the loss of my crusade D'oh

Just had a cool king death.

English King, excommunicated, getting near the end of Early in GA. I wait like 12 years for either my king or the Pope to die so I can Crusade Palestine. Neither of the old buggers die, they're both in their 60's now...

I try and try my king for heresy, that just increases his broken crosses. I send him, alone, to Egypt. He survives three such attacks. On the fourth, I control him. I dismount him (Feudal Fook Knights) in the middle of the desert and charge the Egyptian lines. I throw the slider to 100% and wait. Minutes pass...

at the end of the battle, Samurai Jack has 12 valor and has killed 76 Egyptians. He was 65 years old. Tough old bugger.

This may be the only post in the thread that doesn't involve some siege tomfoolery.

I remember that I was defending a province that Byzantines wanted to reclaim. I fought them off, heavily outnumbered, long and glorious engagement, only to get overzealous and chase them down to the end of the map. Silly me thought that I could take the enemy reinforcements (a lot of them) one by one and rout them immediately when they appear on the map. Somehow, my 6 or 7 valor urban militia general got in the way of a trebizond archer unit of total 3 () men and they shot him in the back

Ergo, vis a vis, consequently, my army is routing and I am fervently hitting the rally button thinking that I should have never take Byzantine mercenaries to fill up my army when I'm trying to hold the Byzantine territory. Talking about the poetic justice…

I lost one of those legendary 8 or 9 star Byzantine generals in a bad way.

Having defeated the first wave, he was chasing down routers with few losses but was exhausted at the other end of the map.
Then low & behold a friggin woodsmen unit came charging down the hill his unit was going across & hacked up my general on the flank http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-surprised.gif
