View Full Version : Is this a bug?
I have noticed weird Unit sizes after a while in a Campaign. This has been going on for quite sometime now. One minute I'm churning out Archer Units @ 60 per unit and then all of the sudden they are coming out @ 42 per unit or some other weird number. And it's not just archers, it's all units produced from that province (seems to be random as to which province it starts in) Has anyone else run into this sort of thing. Oh and it doen's seem to be limited to a certain faction. I have a bunch of different campaigns going and it happens to all factions.
Did you change unit sizes?
Go the the option menu (in the main menu, not in game) and I think its in "gameplay" or something like that.
Thats the only thing I can think of.
No I've not messed with unit sizes at all. It usually starts to happen around 1135/1140. Everything is normal until that point and then some random province of mine starts to spew out oddly numbered units. I'm trying to figure out why this does it. Usually I have a stack or so already in the province and I'm starting to gear up the War Machine so I can wreak havok on Europe.

is there a crusade passing through your provinces???
Hmmm....I'm not sure on that. I'll have to check when I get home from work. I believe both an English Crusade and a French crusade just went through someof my province a few turns ago. Currently I'm playing an Italian Campaign.

prob a crusade. when one passes through a province, it takes a few men from each banner, and adds it to the crusade. that's probably why suddenly your units are at a weird (and lowered) number.
Isn't the percentage of men taken on a crusade effected by the zeal of the province it's passing through? Hence the province in question must have a zeal rating of around 25% I think thats right; if not anybody else got a more correct answer? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-juggle.gif

Im preety sure its Crusades that caused it, italian provinces usualy have high zeal so you´ll lose lots of troops to crusades that pass through.
Yep it seems taht it's been the Crusades going through my Provinces. Man I've been playing Bith MTW and MTW:VI since they both came out for some reason I never noticed it until a few weeks ago. Man I love this game

That can be a very frustrating feature of crusades.
IIRC it doesn't matter whether you are playing a catholic or orthodox faction. You will still loose some troops whenever a crusade passes by one of your armies.
It was a pretty big shock the first time a crusade passed by one of my Byzantine armies. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

How much you loose is based off the province's zeal rating.
