This week i have started modding again.I have begun on
version 2.0 of my norman invasion mod.This version
is a lot different from the original version.Norman invasion
2.0 will feature 15 factions using the viking invasion map.
It will also utilize new units for the new factions.The factions i have so far are : Vikings, Anglo-saxons(King Harold),Normans(Duke William,The welsh, Clan Mackay, Clan
Mc Donald, Clan Mcloead ,Clan Bruce, The Manx , The people
of Munster, The people of Ulster,The Connachta, The people of Lagian.I have plans for a couple more.
the mod is an expansion for vi and will not affect the
orignal campaignes ,It has its own map.The map is only a copy of the vi map.In the future i would like to make a
diffrent map but now im not so good with lmm.
Im working now on new units and the txt files. The mod
Is a ways away from completion.So i cant say a relese date.
- Request for help If some one could devote their time for the good of this mod. my only reequest is that some one
help me in creating a copy of the vi map which includes
francaland as a province. this would allow me to put the
normans starting position there. Any help would be apreciated.

I have just finished the four irish factions. they have
new units such as Mounted dartmen and irish warbands.
now my attention is on the six scot factions.
does any one know if it is possible to create throwing axes.
oh yeah my britania mod is done and a few friends of mine
are testing it so look for that in the next month or so.

Throwing axes? They wouldn't have much ammo at all but it sounds very good. I just heard thunder while typing this
Just thought of a problem I'm having. what is the code for Royal Bodyguards in CRUSADE_11?
An idea about the throwing axes: You could use javelins, I guess, if the axes idea doesn't work out. They woudl seem to have similar properties, as far as the game is concerned.

I figured you'd know if you had made a patch like this. Just trying to give them to my faction in Medieval campaign. It didn't work out, though. They got Royal Knights from the high period (I have no idea). I'm sure I'll get it eventually.
Where can your older version be downloaded from? Four Irish factions *swells with pride*, sounds good :)

Norman Invasion 2.0 is still early in developement.However
i am working steadily on it....I would say maybe the end
of next month. Norman Invasion 2.0 will be a Add on
so it will be around 30mb. Im working to get a new campagin
map for it.

*** A request to map makers.I have a map made by Grell
that includes many new provinces for the Vi map.I am
not good at working with maps and i need some one
to create the txt files for it. I have the maptex
files and the lukupmap's completed courtesy of grell.
So if someone could help out i would be very happy.**

Today i have added some new units:
viking skirmishers
Norman Archers
Irish War Bands
Manx Pickmen
And some new seige units. I am trying to work on a battering ram.
I was wondering is it....possible and how would i
have the torches that melee units throw at castles
as a ranged weapon in normal combat. Because id this is possible i could change the torches apearance and have
trowing axes for the vikings.

this mod looks really cool, i was wondering why no one had thought of a norman invasion mod before, but why are you adding scottish clans?
mcleods were certaintly not around in during the norman invasion and the bruce's wouldnt have been around until the normans were in scotland either.

1.0 is the most recent version. I decided not to release
version 1.2 and compile all the versions after that into
version 2.0

Will the units you are making have some new weapons/shields, and graphics (review panel and pop-up info window pictures)?
And are these battle flags final version? They look rather basic.

I have a question for you m8 and was told you might be able to help.
I'm looking for a map for the original Viking Invasion with no factions changed BUT Francland useable, weather it be one big province or several with rebels or whatnot owning them.

Is that for his mod or just a map that was done? What stuff does it actually overwrite?
Again, I will try the mod when its a version 2 but for now I would just like a map with Francland available u know, and have it overwrite the old viking invasion campaign. Ok guys im still working on the map and some of the new factions. The map will have Francland divided into several
provinces. I still need help with the map fore im have troubles, with it. The mod is progressing as planned.
I will post new screen shots in the near future. Im putting this mod on hold for a week or 2 beacause beta testing for my Britannia ( Romans In Britain)mod is near completion.
I would like to release that mod in a week mor two.

AFter you complete the mod I'll be sure to try it but is there a way that after ur finished with the mod, edit the original viking campagin so that when i start that one francland will be dividied? That may sound confusion lol here is what i mean

Would it be possible to add francland as territories in the original viking camapgin ,changing nothing but that and overwriting the original?

I dont think i will add the norman map to the vi campaign.
The norman invasion mod will only have the new map for the next release.

Thank you king azzhole for directing me to the correct string...anyways...input on Norman period...Ok personally Normans are kind of my favorite subject inside of my other favorite subject(middle ages in general) so I do have some input as to what units the Normans should have.
Ok lets start with some of the more obvious that are most likely already covered...
Norman Mounted Knights
Norman Foot Knights
Norman Infantry(about the equivalent of the Saxon Fyrdmen...then men had some very basic training, a sword and usually a helmet as well as a round shield rather then the Knights who usually used the tear drop type shield...depending on the noble who supplied the troops they sometimes had a full hauberk or at least a smaller byrnie of chainmaille.)
Norman Conscripts(essentially peasants but the Normans tryed there best to make sure their men had the weapons they needed and if possible the armour too. Though most armour these troops would carry would be second hand taken from a battlefield.)
Flemish Infantry.(They did ok at the battle of Hasting but overall Flemish infantry were of poor quality. These troops come from other parts of france...namely flanders.)
Breton Infantry. (these are about the same as Norman infantry...sometimes better...the bretons were known to be quite tenacious at times. These people come from Brittany.)
Norman Cavalry(Normans felt that if a man did not learn how to ride a horse by the age of 12 that he was fit only for a career in the church...many Normans owned horses but most only rode them to the battlefield and then dismounted, other choice riders would be made into cavalry units who are not to dismount at battles but are to provide extra support to mounted knights.
Armoured Archers(the Bayeux tapestry shows Archers stripping Saxon dead of their weapons and armour which most likely means that during the rest of the campaign in britain the archers were well armoured.)
I also have one suggestion for the Saxons...
Saxon Cavalry...they would usually ride up to the enemy and throw their spears into the enemy's line and then fall back behind their own lines and dismount to fight on foot... of course sometimes they were ordered not to dismount but rather to draw their swords and continue fighting. Harold Godwinson used them at the battle of Stamford bridge to good effect.
Something to remember is that the Normans treasured greatly men with great fighting ability...war was their vocation and many norman poems survive telling of their for war being greater then their love for food, drink and even women. Anyways I can help more if you want I just dont want to be a nuisance so...I think I will leave it at that for now.I hope I helped a litte...anyways...goodnight, I wish you luck.

up this mod greatly ....as i am a one man band with this
project.This mod is still very much alive I must
admit it is overdue but im in X-ray school and my
time is short.I have all but the norman and manx
factions completed.
This mod will feature many changes to the original
mod.The changes are to many to explain.There is much
still to do, so if others would want to help that would
be great.pm me if you wany to help.
This version will not feature a new map unless someone
feels like spear heading that portion.I have done some
graphical work on the new map but i dont have time for it.
I would email what i have to anyone interested.
