Hello all http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
I'm playing a campaign as the Turks (Early/Hard/VI) and this beeing my first campaing in hard, I was amazed to see how much morale matters...Only it's not because of that, it's because - shame on me, it took me a while to see it - my star general (5* but expert attacker) is an unhinged loon (-3 morale if I remember well).
I know that if you move governors around enough, they don't get bad governor vices: is there a way of preventing morale vices?

I think if the high morale generals are not left in a big stack the tend to gather less vices. Also depending on what buildings are there and how you fight the battles effect it.
Something like unhinged loon is probably impossible to stop it seem to be random your better off killing him to increase an agents stats or failing that there is always the suicide mission. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
In my latest campaign (Turks, early), every single Amir of Arabia I've assigned has picked up the cracked brain/unhinged loon vices - pretty much as soon as I assigned the title - slightly annoying really http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-inquisitive.gif

I'd become an unhinged loon if someone expected me to hang about in the deserts of Arabia too.
Is there a list anywhere of if/how buildings can affect V&Vs?

Your unhinged loon general will do better in battles if you auto resolve then fight it yourself..I only keep high ranked generals with loon vices cause they seem to still be able to manage in most fights especialy against lower ranked generals.
If you have some spare cash and don't mind losing a star temporarily then get him Captured. Captured gives +3 Morale and -1 Command.
Its a bit drastic but its the only VnV I know how to completely control getting. Of course there is the 'Brave Sir Robin' strategy but that gets you a further -3 Morale or worse.

I was thinking about killing him, but he's not that bad after all (as the Turks you really have to "train" most of your generals, at least I have had to so far) as long as I have him leading high-morale units, so I've put him in one of my borders with a bunch of Ghazis.
Given the kind of trustworthy company he keeps, he might just get captured soon.
I guess there must also be some way of putting him in the front line to try and get him some of the leadership virtues, although being a camel unit, he's so likely to rout, he won't even be captured
CeeBod: I'll have to check, but I wonder if he's the Amir of Arabia...
Quote[/b] ]Well, they were unhinged loons there :) starting with Mohamed
Remember, he saw VISIONS...
man, don`t go there, bash your own religion (as i do to my former faith continiously), but it`s bad form to bash other peoples. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-no.gif

to get back on topic; does being an unhinged loon affect any bonuses that a general may get as a govenor?

If he has high acumen, may be worth just keeping him off the front lines. Or place him on some "safe" border where he can look scary, but not actually have to lead anyone into battle. I typically send crazy generals into battle, and force them into combat. One of three things happens..
1) He gets some bravery virtues that make up for being crazy.
2) He flees mid battle, and becomes more pointless. And finds himself very dead within a few years.
3) He dies in combat, problem solved.
