Finally got on. Mini_Killer. Gonna try to get ride of the space but for now I'm happy.

One prob is that I can't hsot a game. I mean I can set one up but noone can see it. I'm not behind a firewall as I dont even have one but I dont have Norton Anti-Virus. Could that be it? I disabled it though and still, noone coiuld see my game...but I never logged out nad back in after disabling it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm not sure about the specifics, but this could be the router problem.

Hi MiniKiller

Glad you got back on at last.
You may have a problem getting rid of space but no worries. At least your back.
Regarding hosting game no one can see.
Try restarting game or even rebooting. This has worked for me in the past.
I turn off firewall but leave Norton Antivirus running. Norton shouldn't affect your game.

Best of lick

I have Zone Alarm installed but shut it down to play.
It is a program that you would have installed yourself, so If you haven't installed you wont have it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

lol in the connections tab I have nothing to select.

I'm running comcast cable internet if that matters.

It's your router Killer. You can't host through a router with out opening some ports.
Please go to the following download the 14 day free trial. You can be hosting tonight http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif

http://www.purenetworks.com/products/portmagic/

It very quick and easy to install, and works perfectly. I have been using Port Magic for months now with no problems at all.

Turning off your XP firewall is a must.

But didn’t you say above

If you do have a router (and are not talking about your cable modem), you will still have to deal with that also.

I never turn off my XP firewall and always host at least one game per night, but I know it does affect some people.

I would try the router thing first and then experiment with the XP firewall, http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-yes.gif

Maybe there is something i could just simply edit. I mean I went into the advanced tab and i can go under service and can access some of them by checking them off, also security logging...which doesnt seem to help and then icmp where nothing is checked but i can to allow different things to work...

Went around that tree for six weeks m8. Trying this and that, then that and this. I even bought an other router and did it all over again. Wasted countless hours and brain cells. The Port Magic program was the end to the nightmare, that's maybe why I can't say enough about it.

Have you tryed bypassing your router yet? Turn everything off. Disconect your computer from the router, and your router from your cable modem. Then plug your computer directly into the router. If the particular computer in question was the main computer on the network, everything should start up just fine (if not you will have to go through some stuff to make it so). Now, go to the foyer and host a "test game". Be sure your firewall is off. Ask if anyone can see your game (be sure to say MTW or VI). If they can, you know all you need Port Magic.

Good Luck

Tomi
