View Full Version : heirs and dieing
How does the the computer decide whether you die or not? is there a chance every season which gets greater and greater as you age? I only ask because I once ended a campaign with a 100+ year old, and then yesterday, takeda shingen has to go and die of an 'illness' at 64. also. why can;t heirs be adopted?. This was commonplace in feudal Japan. anyways. yesterday, i realized how much history changes in this game, and it is a lot more fun when you know about it.
ex: yesterday hojo clan died in about 1580 when in reality, hojo ujimasa and ujinao were part of the last clan to be 'united' under toyotomi hideyoshi.
well, i just realized how cool this was yestereday.
yes, i am now done rambling.

Technically, heirs are adopted when the computer decrees it - the later Uesugi and Oda heirs are members of another clan, the Date and Toyotomi, respectively. But we still have to follow the historical sequence in this respect; the only eligible heir candidates are the ones who really were.
Personally, I find the initial daimyƓ a bit too long-lived to be believable... It's outright embarrassing to have a 90-year-old daimyƓ when you know he died at the age of 40 or so in real life. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/redface.gif
Therefore, I usually consign Takeda Nobutora into retirement in Kai by 1560 at the very latest unless he can't be spared from the front. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/cool.gif

I go even further. Most of my Daimyos didn't get to fight even one single battle during their entire life. I just put them in a castle guarded by a lot of ninja/shinobi.

Is it just me, or does the first Shimazu Daimyo reproduce like a rabbit?

Hell, I've had heirs only 3 years younger than me as Shimazu. Not only is he a rabbit, he's a precocious rabbit.

Has it ever occured to your guys that those "heirs" might be his BROTHERS?
As a matter of fact, Shimazu Yoshihisa was lucky in that he had three brave younger brothers fighting by his side: Yoshihiro, Iehisa, and Toshihisa.
And yes, there father Shimazu Takahisa was well-endowed.

I had figured either they were brothers or your Daimyo's initial age was randomly determined. Either way, boy is a rabbit. I don't know when he finds the time to sire all those children with me keeping on the battlefield.

Check the forum of "Japanese history and cinema", you will find a lot of intesting information there.
