I had a strange one last night. Playing English early with the MedMod. It's the first time I've tried the MedMod.
Anyway, Flanders had been taken by the Spanish, who I was allied with. The Flemish revolted and kicked the Spanish into the castle. I thought I'd help the Spanish out so I sent my heir with a good army to take on the rebels. I thought the Spanish would turn up for the fight but they didn't. I beat the rebels who then disappeared. I presume they couldn't get back to the castle as the Spanish were still sitting there.
This left me besieging the Spanish whilst I was still Allied to them. The next year the castle fell to my troops, still the Spanish didn't seem to mind. I took the province off them whilst staying allied to them.
I thought I'd be warned off by the Pope or at least they would have something to say about it.

Must be the work of MedMod; I've lifted sieges on allies before, and they did join the battle, however useless they were, and they kept their province. Afterwards I got a formal message of gratitude from their King. Felt nice to be helpful to the AI for once :)

I've done the same with MedMod. It must have just been a bug and not the mod itself.
I haven't tried MedMod yet, but the same thing has happened to me once or twice in the vanila version of MTW. If it is a bug, it's not MedMod's fault I don't think.

I didn't want to imply that I thought it was the MedMod causing it. I really like the mod. It's given MTW a whole new breath of life for me. I was just surprised that I got away with it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .
I put it down to the King of Spain having a rather large argument with the Swedes. I guess he just forgot that lonely outpost where the rebels were causing trouble.

Are you shure the were still "Spanish"?
Once or twice I've retreated my garrison of peasants to the castle to wait for the regulars to show up, and the became rebels.
There was no civil war or anything, the garrison just became rebels. And I had to fight them just the same after I relieved the siege, those ungrateful b@stards.

I'm sure they were still Spanish. The flag was still yellow and the small stack was also yellow.
Maybe they turned rebel the year that the castle fell.
gee i have a different experience with "allies".
i was the sicilians and my allies were byz. turks are left with only syria while egyptians and byz continue fighting, finally egyptians attacked constantinople and force the emperor to fall back in castle. i being the lovable trader i am sent some help, couple o knights n some spears n my king. seems the "infidels" got scared and ran away.
here comes the part where i got so fuckin pissed.
..
..
the goddamn byzantines instead of saying thanks, TOOK MY GODDAMN ARMY PRISONERS ALONG WITH MY GODDAMN KING WHAT-THE-HOLY-FUDGE???? argh, needless to say i had to pay a huge amount of cash so next turn i attacked constantinople and the rest of byz empire. bloody fruits.

That happens if the ally's province you relieve has no port and you share no land-border with the target province. After the enemy retreats, the AI assumes you have no means to return home, so it takes your army prisoner and charges you a hefty home-bound fare for the whole lot... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif
In my opinion, it's a bug...
