View Full Version : Dojo Re-Opened: Attention Please

03-18-2002, 03:34
The Sword Dojo has been officially re-opened after a clearing up of all topics over 60 days old. This pruning was done because the size of the dojo was creating problems to the Telefragged server and it was absolutely necessary to delete as much posts as possible.
We must state that most of the posts are in the Off-Topic forum and the biggest threads in OT were non-productive, spam topics, and these were deleted. Hence we must stress that useless posts must be limited and topics that develop in spam areas will be deleted.

Moreover we will conduct pruning of the forums regularly and old topics will be removed.

Thanks,

Terazawa.

It's a pity that the forum no longer keep old posts.

Maybe it's just me, but I think some of the old posts are very constructive.

Maybe we should have different policy on diffrent forums. For instance, delete old posts from OT but not here.

Or maybe the moderators can put more constructive posts in the archive so that not all the old posts vanish without a trace.

If they were put in the Archives the size would be still a problem as most of the topics in GD are constructive.

Impossible. I am sorry. Please try to understand - if we didn't delete them we wouldn't be here again up and running.

Rejoice people, the old posts are not lost.
They are all on Tosa's backup of the dojo, we will select the best posts and put them in the strategy archive.

To re-post what I posted at OT: Quote Yes, folks, for all I marvelled at the lenience of the folks running our server before, there came a time they noticed that their entire network space was bending around a virtual black hole of infinite spam mass - the Sword Dojo. But I always knew it was bound to happen one day.

We're walking on something of a ragged edge right now, with a limitless amount of Dojo history we thought preserved forever now lost, but once we get used to it we can still thrive just like we did before. After this initial shock I'm hoping the posting limit will remain mostly a matter for the administration to take care of, with periodic deletions of older posts and little else. We won't come out of thin air and kill running discussions anymore - take heart.[/QUOTE]And, as Tera-sama said, the old posts are indeed preserved. Over the following days we'll be picking through them to find true gems to retain in the Strategy Archive or other suitable locations. If you have a recollection of past good posts, do not hesitate to make suggestions!

Remember, you can't kill history, it always comes back for you!

Above all, if he is not careful in his choice of words he may say things like, 'I'm a coward,' or 'At that time I'd probably run,' or 'How frightening,' or 'How painful.' These are words that should not be said even in jest, on a whim, or when talking in one's sleep."

Ah so! So no more referring to old 'tactics topics' when newbies ask the ageless questions anymore, eh?

I can see it already...

[Newbie]: I always get hammered by CA. Can you tell me how to use them? By the way, here is a flower for you for your kindness.
[Org Member]: Yeah. Go over to EA and...
[Diceman]: Hey! Why don't you plant that flower in your asshole?!?
[Org Member]: GAH! Be nice! He's a newbie!
[Diceman]: GAH! OK. Wanna learn? Join my game here...
[Diceman throws up a 1v1 on Awa and lets the newbie graciously take the attacker position.]
[Newbie]: Great! [Joins] I hope to learn a lot from you!
[Diceman]: Watch and learn, baby!
[Diceman takes 8 muskets and 8 yari... the rest is history...]
