I'm unclear how the Master Swordsmith/Bowyer/Spearmaker/Horse breeder work.

That is, it seems to me that a unit will get only 1 valour upgrade from buildings, regardless. Right? Thus, the highest starting value for a unit is 2: 1 from a province bonus, plus 1 from a building bonus.

What I'm curious about, though, is exactly how I determine which building type will give me a bonus for specific units. The most complex are the axe-wielding units as there is no master axe-smith.

Chiv and Feudal men-at-arms, easy enough: master swordsmith.
But, say Gazi infantry, or halberdiers; will they also be affected by a master swordsmith?

Are there any circumstances in which you need TWO master-level facilities to get a 1-point valuor bonus? More than two buildings?

Is there any way to start a unit with valour 3 or more with any combination of buildings.

And on a related note: The Morale bonuses from religious facilities... does anyone know if the morale of a specific uinit is displayed anywhere? The unit write-up inly seems to list the default value.

usualy its the buildings you need to build for a specific unit that gives valor, axe units are usualy spearmaker ghazis swordsmith and halberdiers militia and no theres no need for 2 master levels, before a battle you can see the morale attack, defence bonus by presing F1...a little mssy reply sorry http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Also if a unit already requires a master building to produce it (Pavise arbalesters for example) then that unit will not get the +1 valour bonus from the building.

Also, If you play the Viking campaign then you can have valour 3 archers, cavalry and possibly some other units as Viking buildings add more valour bonuses than the MTW ones.

Revenant, although initially building pavise arbalesters with master bowyer yields no valor bonus, retraining them in the same province gives them the bonus i believe.

yeah, which ever building type you need to train that unit, the master level version of it will give it +1 Valor. So...

Master Horse Breeder - Light Cavalry (maybe cav archers?)
Master Bowyer - Archers (maybe cav archers?)
Master Swordsmith - Men-at-Arms and the like
County Militia - Militia troops (including Halberdiers)
Baronal Manor - Knights (so I hear)

And if someone doesn't mind, can you answer me this question...

Can you only build the last Royal Court (Baronal Manor?) in Late period? The reason I ask is cause I have an English and a Spanish game, both in High, both with Fortresses and the 2nd to last Royal Court, and I don't have the option to build that last one in the chain.

Is that a bug or is there a reason I can't build that building yet?

I don't know much about this valor stuff, but to Servius1234 Only Germany and Italy get the highest level Royal court because they need it for their Gothic Knights. No one else needs it so they don't have it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif
