I've been busy with models for the Wars of the Roses mod, and I am a bit uncertain on how the armour of the Men-at-Arms is looking. It's a waste of time to render the animations and to find out that it's not entirely correct, so I ask your advice on it.
Metal has a certain way of reflecting light, and if it's made right it will look like plastic or overdone.

Anyway here's the first version:

And here is an alternative with slightly less gloss:

What do you think of the metal? Too dark/light/reflective/glossy? Use an inbetween?

Thanks for any advice,
Duke John

Honsetly, the original TW armors were very dull. I would prefer shiny ones, but I guess the first version is just right between too much and too less. Second one shines too much. The modeling is great by the way http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

How do you plan to change the "shine" factor in different wheaters?

I agree with Cebei. The first version looks better.

Yes the first version is better.

Too much reflection at the second version.

They look absolutely perfect. Amazing job. Well done.

First one is even more perfect, though. ;)

Thanks, that was pretty clear, I will use the gloss of the first version.

Great books indeed, I am using a couple as a reference for my models.

DJ, I have got to ask this:
How do you make your models? do you do 3d? Photoshop/Corel? sketch and scan and color? PainShopPro?

Just a newbie asking...

Read the last chapter in my unit graphics guide. I've made some remarks which program you should use, but they're all 3D programs.

And this is how the Men-at-arms are looking ingame:

Next are the Billmen. When those are finished I have the 3 basic units of the armies in the Wars of the Roses. I will then make a variant of each one; armoured longbow/billmen and a knight with coat-of-arms. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-builder2.gif

How about Knights Bannerate, these knights were allowed to use thier own banners.

Also, adds some crossbowmen, and some sword and kite shield men at arms.

Also you should maybe make, Lancaster knights, Yorkist knights, etc.

Duke John, i have a question about that Feudal Sergeant graphics you made some time ago. Will it be used in any mod you are making?

When your War of the Roses mod becomes more finished it would be an honour to build a website for it,if you would like that of course....
