At the .COM. Here is the description;
Shrine of Saturn: Roman Scipii only
This Shrine is dedicated to Saturn, the elder god, the God of Time and father to Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto. He devoured all his other children, and was supplanted as leader of the gods by Jupiter. Religion always makes a people feel happy and content to know that the Gods are honoured.
Upgrades
This Shrine can be improved as the settlement grows in size and importance.

It would appear that only the Scipio's get to build these. Hmmm...this is going to be an iteresting Tech Tree.
Barkhorn.
Scipii faction only? What's the deal with that? Barring the Senate I thought all Roman cultures were going to be identical??

Well, we know that the Julians considered themselves to eb direct decendants of Aphrodite/Venus - so one would suppose that the Scipii get the temple of Saturn and the Julians get the temple of Venus. I have no idea what the Bruttii get.

But did Romans actually worship Saturn? I mean, their chief god Jupiter led the rebellion against Saturn, no? Isn't it a little like Christians worshiping Ra or something? I could be wrong here...

I imagine each "faction" will have distinctive buildings in the tech tree.
Maybe "culture" will only apply to building architectural styles.

Saturn = Kronos.
The Greek worshipped the Olympian pantheon of gods as well as the Titan pantheon of gods, including Kronos, Gaia and more which I fail to remember.
Since the Romans copied a lot of their religion from the Greeks, and since they were pretty opportunistic when it came to believing, they also believed in Saturn, yes.

the romans certainly did worship Saturn http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-yes.gif ever hear of Saturnalia (sp?)?
Also, I assume each faction will get their own faction shrine and everyone gets to build an oracle (if they're included).

Scipiones, not Scipii - it's 3rd declension. I'm surprised to see them make this mistake - that's some first year Latin stuff.
We still worship Saturn in a way. Just look at the day before Sunday and after Friday it's SATURday, add an "n" and you have Saturn. To make him a part of the day of the week shows that they definetaly had reverence for him.

The Romans believed in actually everything and everybody... they adopted every and each deity they could get their hands on...
Bloody copycats http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
BTW I am impressed to see variations in the tech tree of the Roman factions. Means the diversity among different factions shall be great - no more a dozen identical factions (like the catholics in MTW) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif
The catholic factions in MTW weren't all idenitcal. They were just very very very very VERY similar with one or 2 extra units here and there. I'm thinking the Romans may be like this, but we know the other 10 or so playable factions are different so why worry :D

There are two new buildings up on the page, the Egyptian Cavalry Barracks and the Barbarian Tavern. Check them out if you want.
