hi every one..i would like to play in online league games but dont seem to be able to join any .i can get into the e/a site .and find the battles list etc. but cant seem to be able to find anyone playing to challenge.
what is the routine for getting into ladder matches etc.iv'e played online a couple of times but find the play to be very laggy/jerky and almost impossible to control properly.my specs are...P4/2GIG/512MEG RAM/64MEG.GX2NVIDIA/40 GIG H/D./56K.V90/2./
DVD/ROM.32X/CD/RW..HELP PLEASE
Woah that is some machine you have there (except for the v.90). WRT to ya laggy problem, your machine should be able to play fine even with v.90 in most games, unless its on a large map doing 4v4. The others I'm dont quite understand http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif.
Probably this thread should be in the tech forum.

I'd look out tootee if I were you. Suggesting that a thread might belong in another forum makes us sound like old ladies, don't you know.

hey i just thought that my topic would be suitable for "general discussion".
as i only require info on ladder matches etc.
i only included my specs.for information only.
and shouldn't,suggesting that threads, should be placed on certain forums.be the responsibility of the "moderator"? especially as my thread was not O.T.
or did somebody make "tootee" the forum police???
Jesus, Tootee was just making a friendly suggestion.
Don't be so defensive, guys.
TORANAGA,
Look in the Clans and Tournaments Forum. FearofNC is starting a ladder, and has posted about it there. As far as jerkyness in online play, you have a tech problem. Could be video driver related or possibly soundcard related. Turn off all backround programs at startup, and see if that helps.

I hate newbie attitude. Tis so harsh, especially to those patrons of the ORG that deserve respect, as all patrons do.
Show some respect and decency to those who are wiser than yourself. (I hate to nag)

TORANAGA,
I don't think the game uses any memory over 128 MB, and that is shared with the operating system and any other programs that are running. Lots of people have had trouble with video cards, and I had a severe lag problem caused by my soundcard. There was nothing wrong with my soundcard, and everything else I ran worked fine. Now I can say that the game is the problem, but the game is not going to be fixed. I replaced my soundcard, and the lag problem went away.
It is possible for a poor network connection to cause lag, and, if you play against someone with a slow machine or slow connection, you'll get lag. You have to narrow down the possibilities because there are many possible causes of lag.

TODA.NEB.
RESPECT, DECENCY, WISER??
where in my posts have i been disrespectful, indecent, towards any body, and how you can, arbitrarily decide that one person is wiser, than another on a subject, boggles the mind,i would suggest that you refrain from personal rebukes, and your outspoken opinions of others, especially when you publish them on a public forum such as this.

I agree totally with you Toranaga-san but posts like the one above are the ones iam talking about.
The word wiser i meant in the context of the ORG. You need to learn the ways of the ORG. We are a community and yes everyone has their rights, but the comment mate by tootee was justified, so an outbust like your second post (the one quoted) was what Iam talking about.

do i still have my newbie attitude?
P.S why did you put san after his name?

Lag is such an annoying monster with so many possible causes it would take hours to list them all.
Some good suggestions above though. You may also want to try upgrading to a cable or DSL connection... if you can afford it.

JAMES..what about ye big man?..
SAN. being used after your name in japan is a mark of respect.rather like the title Mr is in the west.my STW. nick. TORANAGA.i took from a TV. series in 1981 called SHOGUN.starring Richard Chamberlin. and Toshiro Mifune.about a 14th or 15th century english sailor.shipwrecked and befreinded by the local daimyo.lots of the elements of STW.are present in the video's which'total six hours veiwing, there is an expurgated version, about 2.1/2 hours long but i would recommend, the full version,it was made with a huge budget for 81.and faithfully recreates the japan of the period.[artistic licence notwithstanding]the main japanese character.[toshiro mifune]was properly addressed as TORANAGA,SAN or SAMA.
LOL me a mod? naaa.. just thought that being in the tech forum Toranaga could get much better response to his problem. The techies probably visit that forum more than here.

TORANAGA-SAMA,
Might I direct you to the Japanese Film and History section of the Dojo? There's alot more to samurai movies than 'Shogun" I can assure you.
