Had another odd "invincible enemy" thing happen. Was playing a campaign and had several hundred longbowmen firing at one militia sargeant general.

I was on one side of a bridge and he the other. I counted the volleys and after 3000 arrows he was still standing.

I'm going to fire the whole bloody lot of those Welsh archers for lousy aim. Good grief http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif

That sound very weird, he could have had a lot of hit points, real high valour and armour upgrades.
That in combination with a lot of luck could have made him surive.
Was it raining pherhaps?

Clearly, it's one of the most frustrating things about the game.

I posted a while back about a Royal Knight general, the last one standing, being attacked by over 1000 Swiss Armoured Pikemen. They converged on him like wheel spokes, coming in from every direction. He fought for minutes, then escaped.

Great game. But some odd moments.

Tell me about it, I had the opposite happen last nite. My 6 star Ghulam Cavalry general was killed at the beginning of a battle by some lousy Trebizond archers.... Nothing more pleasant than seeing your army rout at the begging of a battle http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif

Isn´t there a command-line you can type in to get "green-generals"? I know I read it on some forum a while back. Try the Dungeon Beirut as I´m shure it´s there. Search for "Green Generals". Good luck

Well, it's hard to hit a single guy multiple times, but you are right, 3000 arrows is a bit much.
About the SAP thing, units that overlap on the same spot get severe combat penalties, thus attcking him with 1000 men actually made it easier for the enemy general to fight, not harder.

I agree with brutal on the pikemen issue, but the arrows probably should have got him, even if he was heavily armoured as they are armour piercing - I guess in that case, maybe sending him good armour-piercing infantry could have worked to get one of his "lives"...

But I actually had a question, are gunpowder units any good to kill invincible generals when they're heavily armoured? Don't use them that much myself, but since the only thing that works always against jedi-generals is artillery and that's as close as you get for mobile artillery...

Green generals does not make generals weaker on the battlefield. What it does is make the replacement for a general who died of old age have lower stats (and lower V&V's). It only works in VI. To use the command line, see the appendix of Froggy's beginners guide.
