The winner was Crandaeolon, and one of the runners-up who won a VI copy was LRossaLordJimi. I cannot remember the other winner.

I'm issuing a later-than-usual edition of the Informant this week because we've got a HUGE announcement to make For about 2 months, we've been taking signups for our War for Middle-earth tournament in Vivendi Universal's Lord of the Rings-based real-tim strategy game, War of the Ring. Now, the time has finally come to announce the 32 players who have been selected to wage war with one another for supremacy over Middle-earth -- and a shot at the tournament's $40,000 grand prize
We've listed the full roster of competitors on the War for Middle-earth info. page on the GameSpy Arcade Website. 28 players were selected from entries submitted via Arcade's sign up sheet, while an additional 4 were selected by these Lord of the Rings Websites: TheOneRing.net, TolkienOnline.com, Warcry.com, WaroftheRing.net.
If your name is on the list, you're officially in the tournament. Matches begin on February 11. Stay tuned for more updates on the tournament's progress

We don't have 40k laying around, but maybe we can get some copies of RTW donated to winners of our CWC Contests?
I will look into it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-yes.gif

RTW is gonna be huge - surely some lurking CA folks can take the hint and do the same as EA....im not greedy, a 20k prize would be fine http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-gossip.gif

REally? The LoTR game is out already? Lol, I haven't heard "boo" about it. That suggests (strongly) to me that it is ahhhh how do you say-- crapola?
Plus I still maintain a strong bias against EA from the way they handled Shogun. [EDIT: I checked and it looks like this game is produced by Sierra and "Vivendi". I couldn't find any EA backing.]
Has anyone here played the LoTR game?
I think the one that's out is LOTR war of the ring and the one you're thinking of is LOTR battle for middle earth. LOTR battle for middle earth is the one that looks like it's gonna be almost or just as good as RTW. While LOTR war of the ring dosn't seem to be that great cause i played the demo and couldn't stay addicted for 20mins, also it has a score of 6.9 out of 10 at gamespot.
Don't know why you would want to give so much money away for playing such a poor strategy game.
The one thats out at the moment is the Vivendi game, they have the license to develop games based on the book. EA have the license for the film versions. The EA game apparently uses an updated C&C generals engine.
