View Full Version : Jedi Generals

I am playing a game now (early/English/hard) that I started with the specific goal of producing as many 6* (or higher) generals as I could. The first thing I did was make my king fight a bunch of battles to raise him to 8*. Of his offspring, I weeded out the lower quality ones (by sending them to honorable deaths in battle) until the heir apparent was a 6* with a good set of V&V. I also have all of my emissaries busy every turn marrying off my sons. On a side note, I am marrying my sons to Danish princesses wherever possible, hoping that if they ever collapse, I might inherit the kingdom.
Anyway, it's now 1210. My king is 9*, and it is a rare event that one of my sons is born without at least 5*, as well as very high dread, acumen and piety (crusades have helped with that) and good V&V. The only thing that I really want that has been eluding me is the Butcher vice (just because it sounds so cool). My generals are so kick-ass that the enemy keep routing almost immediately and I can never capture the thousand that I need to execute before they have all fled the field.
Anyway, I am up to my neck in Jedi and am at the point where I am leaving them stationary as governors because I have all of the combat generals I need.

Butcher IIRC is bad for morale, and beware 9* kings somtimes result in 0* heirs (thought to be 10* but this has been denied I think by the CA people). Dont leave them scratching their backsides to long either as they will become proud or lazy or corrupt http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

First time I have ever inherited a kingdom in MTW just happened last week. I too was the English and Denmark collapsed and it was a total surprise, I forgot that I had royal marriage ties, giving me Sweden Denmark and later Norway. It sure is a nice and needed addition to the kingdom, those Landsmen are nice additions to my army trying to stem Spanish aspirations in Aquataine, jerks.
I've got a quick question to get out there anyway, do enemy units suffer morale penalties if the their general (the Spanish king) withdraws from battle right as it starts? He always does that...I really want to kill him but he is such a coward.

Highlight thier units and see if it says worried by the general running away then you will know they have taken morale penalties. Elite units and those with high valour arent effected tho.

Very true about the 9* birthing 0*. I am playing the byantines and my first emperor was an 8* general, upped to nine in his rule, plus skileld attacked (though I don't think it made a difference by then).
His son and heir had 9* at birth succeeded him admirably after a long an prosperous reign, and his brother looked set to take over and was an 8* geneeral, with even better acumen thn his older brother.
Now, however, two years before his death, his son caem of age, with 0* command, and while he had decent stats for piety and acumen (despite being pridefull) he is emperor and I fear his line shall be weak indeed.
Oh fates, who dost though mock me so?
I never manage to inherit a kingdom reguardless of how many princess i have my sons marry.
i think the butcher vice is hard for you to get now as your super high dread and valour generals may actually scare enemy troops away so it's hard to get enough prisoners.
may i suggest more light cav, ie steppe cav. if all else fails, wait for epic horde battles if you are out in kiev etc. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
