I would like to thank all those who voted in my Poll. I had a total of 70 votes. The results were quite surprising, it was a two way tie for first place. Both Aragon and Egypt received 11 votes each. That accounts for 31% of the votes. The next highest were the Almo's with 8 votes (11%)

So what I have decided to do is all three strats.

First Aragon
Second Egypt
Third Almo's

Aragon is a very interesting challenge. I will post my findings on this forum before I place them on my seb site. I have started the game on the hardest setting (4000 Florins) and am well into the campaign.

After about 60 years I control

Aragon
Navarre
Castille
Cordoba
and two provinces in north Africa

The Almo have been eliminated into a minor faction, and the spaiish are split in two between three provinces in Iberia. The remaning province is a Rebel province, with a large army, so far I have been unable to bribe the leader.

My treasury is approx 10,000 florins and I make a profit of 1000 per turn. I am only at war with Egypt who I launched a Crusade against - However it was unsuccesful and died off in North Africa...

More to follows later (inc map pictures etc......)

Better than I have ever done with the Argo's in a full campaign http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

I am currently playing the Argos. I found after several attempts that the Spanish must go. That has to be first priority. I bribed Navarre and El Cid. I then attacked the Almos and immediately pulled out. After I pulled out the spanish then started to attack the Almos. I waited a couple of turns, building up and letting the Spanish and Almos beat each other up. I then rushed the Spanish and forced the Almos back into Africa. I have tried other ways, just attacking Almos, attacking into Europe and each met with failure. Always the Spanish would end up crushing me, so I think that for a successful Argo campaign Spain must go immediately. Anyways I lok forward to reading your guide.

El-Cid is a very interesting question

My first few attempts, I bribed El-Cid. But what I found was it took me about 10 years to collect enough money to do this. In this time (of doing nothing) both Almo and Spain had pushed ahead, which made it impossible to catch up.

My initial feeling are Spain needs to be eliminated, but only after removing Almo. To eliminate Almo you need to use Crusades, hense you get a large army, which you can park in a Spanish povince to weaken them, before the invasion of North Africa begins.

IMHO only then should you take Spain on....

Its all about money, trade is key to this I believe..

Well I merc abused (after this campain I stopped doing that, it got to easy) and took at first the French province above me, then I took Navarre. Then I took out the English (witch was easy thanks to the mercs) on the mainland while being allied with the French, who took Normandy.

At this point the Spanish was winning against the Almos so I was forced to attack them before they got to strong. A huge army of archers and spears invaded Castille and slaughtered the Spanish on their counter-attack. I took over the Iberian penisula and left the Spanish in Tunsia.

Then I crusaded to the holy land (it was a GA campaign). By 1205 I had conqured the holy lands and Egypt and had around 10.000 men there, after losses on around 4-5.000 men to secure it. Every crusade had around 4000 men.

Thank you to the people that posted in response to Shades. I started an Aragon campaign and tried to use the suggestions ppl made. The need for very aggressive play from turn 1 seemed to be the main theme...it works http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif
