View Full Version : Unused bif folders?

While making my mod I was very disappointed when I had to use up 8 custom bif folders in order to get the new factions to work (problem with the facshield). With the original 8 folders (peasants, MKnight, etc.) now useless to my game, and me fast running out of space to create new weapons and shields in some folders, I was wondering if it would be possible to completely change the unused folders? Of course, I know it would ruin the original game, but I'm okay with that. For example, could I delete all the units in the original Peasants folder and then remove the weapons and shields from the bif and draw new items instead? No units access these folders and there wouldn't be anymore facshield units so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I see the Napolean mod and Middle Earth mod completely changed some of the old bifs and filled them with new stuff, so I can't see why this wouldn't work. And this way I could make twice as many units http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The only problem I can foresee is it doing harm to the Viking game.

might not be the answer you want, but what about making all the old factions use the new factions peasant folder etc, and use the older folders for new ones??

I'm not sure if that'd work. Even then, I would be in an even worse position as then both bif folders will be used. Seems like a waste.

Thanks for the suggestion though http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif

For anyone who cares, this actually works and DOESN'T screw up the main and Viking game. I foresee many more units being created http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
