Weapon Upgrades

Does anyone know whether weapon upgrades increase the killing power of ranged weapons, or do they just up the melee stats for melee weapons??

Melee weapons only. Weapon upgrades increases the attack stat with +1, etc. Missile weapons do not work with an attack stat but with chances to hit, to kill and a modifier for armour.

Well some archer untis benefit from the weapon upgrade. Most of the time it benefits hybrid units like Welsh bandits for example. With max armor/wpn and led by a 6 star general one of my units of Welsh bandits got over 700 kills in a large battle - all kills were melee too since it was snowing. And no they werent peasants, mostly armored spears but also some royal bodyguards.

So if you play a faction with hybrid archer untis, weapon upgrade for them can make a world of difference.
