sounds easy enough...you gotta open campmap/names, then u oped up default heroes, scroll down to
FAMOUS_HEROES:: FN_REBEL 18

the 18 refers to the 18 rebel hero names already listed, change that to 19

the first hero listed is el cid...now you must add an extra line somewhere there
this stuff here describes the heroes
//hero name date, c, d, p, a, l, v, TYPE ID_REGION PORTRAIT
fill in
fojar, lastname, or whatever name u wish, and the other stuff the way u want, heroes show up 16 to 20 years after the date u enter i think, then the command, dread, piety, acumen, loyalty (they all go up to 9 methinks), what virtue u want them to have, then GENERAL for the type so it will be a soldier, and ID_SWEDEN so it will be trained in sweden at the right time, and for a random portrait, its just -1
look at other hero entries to make sure u type it in right, adding commas after the right stuff and such

now sweden rebels have danish names, so scroll down to danish surnames and add the last name at end of list just like the others, now scroll down just a bit to add first name to the forenames the same way...now just open up loc/eng/names text and do the same with the danish names...
there all should be well, let me know if something doesnt work...if u stick an army of huscarles in sweden in campmap/startpos/period, and u added a date for hero like 20 years before the period started, that would do the trick when u start, you'd just have to bribe them if you were not rebel
hope some of all this helps

i've added a couple heroes as described and took joy in building them up some nice v&v's. What i found interesting and yet more annoying was that after about 20-30 years afterwards my heroes would presumably die, being replaced by a randon general with its own ramdom pic and name. All the stats and v&v's stay with him, but the hero i added originally is nowhere to be found. Anyone know if this is hardcoded like the king dying?

any feedback would be appreciated, thanks

As I understand it, yes. In VI, all generals die of old age, but any non-royalty generals are instantly replaced with an heir with the same name and stats.

I seem to remember that using the green generals command line arguement changes that. They still die of old age, but don't get replaced by heirs with equal stats. Probably makes the game aheck of a lot harder.

Doesn't the last name stay the same though?

Thanks Phatose. That clears it up. As to their last names staying the same I don't know since both of my generals were assigned a province so they gained the title Lord infront of the first name and lost the last name. But you're probably right.

yes, too bad they die of old age, i find it rather amusing having the 200 yr old general hobbling around, still lopping off heads and managing economies... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/handball.gif
