BNinjas will beat all including the toughest like HCs, monks, Kensais. The trick is keeping them at range, out of H2H combat as long as you can and use them in conjunction with other H2H units. They work like SA with better H2H capability.

I had great success with those ninjas in the jungle. They could slaughter just about hundreds of cavalry (surprised?) without losing any single man.

Fast play to the ninja's strengths and avoid just going head to head with other units. Use them to flank and assassinate taishos.

Whatever u do don't let Cav charge them unless u are setting a trap.

Man i set the funniest trap ever:

Taisho was BN
4 other BN
3 SA
2 NAG
2 ND
2 HC
2 YC

I lined up my nags on either side of the taisho who was obviously not invisible to the enemy. Then behind then I had the three archers flanked by the ND. The BN were flanking the nags with the cavalry in the trees off to my left and right.

The enemy attacked the nags and was expecting me to move my ND to flank but I didnt. I moved them in behind my archers. He then sent all of his men (unwisely) against my nags who were doing a stout job. The ND were put in reserve, and the BN who were invisible moved around behind the enemy army completely hidden.

My cavalry charged his flanks and he was soon routing but strangely he pulled his whole army back to just infront of my BN and tried to regroup. He couldn't understand why they were just falling over like flies and at the end of the battle asked me if I had cheated. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

I told him that by 4 BN units had moved silently behind his lines and were put on fire at all and engage at will

Next week I played him again and he beat me with the same tactic that I had beaten him with. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif and now im telling you guys what a nice guy iam! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

*crazy ninja idea ahead*

Keep in mind I haven't played for a very long time before replying to this. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Anyway, I just got this mildly crazy idea for the BN after reading this and the morale thread. What if you used H0 BN as morale support for line troops? They would be invisible, you could hold them back to surprise flanking shock troops, and they'd also offer morale support to the guys in the line. Since morale support is granted by units facing within 45 degrees of the supported unit and doesn't fall off with range, you could conceivably have a couple of BN units sit still just within the max 1.8 tiles range of a single line of Yari and shock troops, convincing the enemy that your troops are poorly-supported and have weak morale, when in reality they're being supported by invisible counter-flankers!

Thoughts?

Back when I could play online.......
I would sometimes use a couple of BN when defending...I would put them on the edges and then let the attacking army pass by...take out the Taisho.....adios!

I just managed to get online today, and fought BarryNoDachi.

I tried to impliment my BN tactic but my rusty skills only resulted in me getting my ass whipped and routing before I had clicked begin battle.(Well it happened so fast it was almost like that!)

Toda: Sorry, man. You had to expect someone else would come up with that idea sooner or later, though. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Honestly, I'm thinking of starting to play again now that morale isn't some mysterious unknown that causes my forces to turn and run when I thought I was winning. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

I just may. Maybe I won't suck now. But I doubt it. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I dunno, I might show up one day, just for nostalgia's sake.
