http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Welcome to The Org nick.

It is possible for AI-controled factions to have more than one active crusade. I have never been able to have more than one at a time, but have seen the phenomena you describe.

I have seen AI-controlled crusades just sit for years, and wonder if there isn't a bug that causes the comp to forget about them.

Of course, you can crusade to wherever the Pope gives you permission, regardless of faction and territory. If you have the cash and the means, go for it. I personally don't crusade much, though it can help clear a path through an ex-ally's turf in preparation for invasion Of course, no matter how bad the Pope is, you can never crusade aganist him

I love to use crusades like wrecking balls. Don't really care too much for them as they usually cost less than conventional units. I pick a far off land and just send 'em off. If I know I have to attack a province soon I'll try to lead with a crusade to soften the impact on my troops http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

As italians, i recently crusaded into tripoli. while my crusade waited for the castle seige, the french crusade showed up, asking for permission to have the province (sounded like the blues brothers we're on a mission from God). they were my allies, so i said what the hell. they took control of the province, and my crusade just sat there looking confused. on my turn, france gave control back to me, and then asked for it back again. we played this polite game until the egyptian defenders all died, and somehow i got control of the province. it was all very strange.

as long as the target nation has been condemed by the pope,(he has asked for nations to crusade against a particular faction) you can have as many crusades as u like, i have (only once mind you) had 4 crusades at one time against the Italians. these crusades also dont require a trbute to the pope http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif so it makes them way cheaper.

Well they can move when they get an opportunity, I've seen a crusade succeed when it only consisted of 2 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif men. By some reason the Egyptians left Tripoli completely without garrison http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
